He was offered $1.5 million to be the OC at Auburn last year and turned it down. I assumed we would have to be north of that number to get him here.

and what a coincidence that we are playing Auburn in the bowl game, although Norvell won't be coaching.

It's not a claim...it was reported in a CA story

The dollar buyout amount was reported. The rumor that Fuente took a smaller salary in exchange for a lower buyout was never substantiated.

The $2.5 million pool for assistant coaches makes a statement.

Houston's is slightly more for the assistant pool, $2.645M. Not sure about Temple since details haven't been released yet.

I'll take the $2.5m in Memphis it will go farther.

CMN's Tigers go 12-1 with a berth in the Peach Bowl, and his assistants will probably get a nice bump. Possibly north of $2.645M.

Correct! According to a cost of living calculator, $2.5 Million in Memphis is equivalent to $3,344,687 in Houston, Texas (34% more expensive).

http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries.../assistant

$2.5 is about $400,000 more than last year.

According to USA Today, the only G5 schools that paid more for assistants were UCF and Boise. UCF was only ahead of us because of a $700,000 bonus owed to Brent Key for not being hired as O'Leary's replacement.

Boise only paid $15,000 more than Memphis.

These numbers and the new pool for assistants speaks volumes to how far we've come.

Holy shat! But in a way -- I hope that's true and Auburn folks know their holy shat.
