My Take on the Nkemdiche Incident
Case Facts:
- 11:30 pm
- Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead
- Small amount of suspected marijuana inside the hotel room (approximately 7 rolled marijuana cigarettes)
- Room was is disarray
- 4th floor double-paned window broken out
- Dropped approximately 15 feet onto encirclement, climbed over a wall, then fell approximately 15 feet into bushes on the ground level.
- 911 caller described Nkemdiche as "laid out," "delirious" and "covered in blood."
- GI (General Investigation) Squad and the Narcotics Unit responded to the scene along with the Crime Scene Unit.
- Robert Nkemdiche has been charged with marijuana possession.
Case Rumors:
- Nkdemiche's fall was the result of his use of synthetic cannabinoids — frequently called "synthetic marijuana" or "fake weed".
- Nkemdiche, after using the synthetic cannabinoids, was paranoid and convinced someone was chasing him.
- At the time he was loaded into the ambulance, Nkemdiche was so disoriented he was unable to provide his name, address, or any explanation for why he'd fled his hotel room.
- Nkemdiche's troubles with synthetic cannabinoids mirror his older brother Denzel's struggles with the same product. Denzel was hospitalized after he was found near the edge of the roof of his off-campus town home, wrapped in a blanket, terrified that someone was after him.
My Take:
IMHO, one of three things happened here:
1) Robert Nkemdiche's fall all was indeed the result of hallucinations due to his use of synthetic weed. He thought someone was chasing him, so he broke through a window, sustaining cuts from the glass, and proceeded to fall/jump to the ground in order to escape.
2) Robert Nkemdiche was in a hotel room with substances and/or people that he shouldn't have been involved with. Someone in the room received word that police were coming so he panicked then broke out of the window and jumped to the ground in order to escape.
3) Robert Nkemdiche was in a hotel room with substances and/or people that he shouldn't have been involved with. An altercation took place so he broke out of the window and jumped to the ground in order to escape.
Regardless of what option is the truth, all 3 show an amazing lack of good judgement. I can understand Options 1 & 3, but let me debunk Option 2...
Option 2: Not buying it. Small amounts of weed -- wouldn't get into enough trouble to justify breaking through a double-paned window, sustaining cuts from that, then plummeting to the ground from the 4th story. He would've been charged with possession and his college career would've likely been over - but that would've been the case either way. Would've saved himself the pain and media buzz from such an odd story. Player getting busted with weed is a common story. Would've made the news then faded away until the combine. Player getting busted with weed after jumping out of a hotel window...that's too strange to ignore. If it was ONLY a little weed, I don't think he jumps. Plus, 3 different investigation units at 11:30pm seems a bit much for 7 blunts...
As more comes out, this will make more sense ...regardless, this is extremely bad judgement on Nkemdiche's part and the NFL has taken notice.

There isn't a coach in America that wouldn't have gladly taken Robert Nkemdiche and put up with his crap. But good try.

My take: RK is an idiot who has the physical talent and ability to dominate in the nfl and would have been a top 5 pick. Now, he probably doesn't go sooner than then end of the first at best.

Mercenaries paid for by the jimmy swaggart of college football. Whores out university to satisfy delusions of grandeur. Prize prima donna gets away from baby sitters and handlers, gets smoked up and jumps outa window in Atlanta. I guess he at least knew how to get there, something his team cant do. Ole miss is an embarrassment.

I'm going with door #1, monte.
And #2 presumes that his decision making is unimpaired. And we know that's not the case.

Football players probably get drug tested. Spice does not show up on a drug test.

Drug tests are largely a joke. How many times can one player fail before he has to report it? How "random" are they and what kind of oversight is administered.
Wayyyy more players smoke weed on the reg than players getting suspended for smoking weed.

Some kind of psychotropic hallucinogen makes sense. Ole Miss is top notch at keeping things on the DL so we get the "weed" story. Anyone who's gotten tanked at Bonnaroo knows that's bull****.
