Our two meetings all-time in basketball leave that much of a bad impression, huh? I will admit there's a little cultural difference which needs to be worked out first.

You guys aren't liberal enough!

There was that time in 1970 where we burned down a Bank of America in Isla Vista. In 2006 after winning a national championship in men's soccer we carried a goalpost out of our stadium and dropped it in the ocean. And we burned a few couches in our day. That's liberal 04-rock

Those schools are in the club for nothing more than being a long-time member. It doesn't matter that they have been pure s*** for many many years. And in there lies the country club mentality problem...

Crying about that is like crying about Rhode Island only being a state because they were one of the 13 despite being smaller geographically than several counties in Texas.

They made the investment a long time ago to play at a higher level and continue to reap the benefits. Should the man who was part of the initial investment of IBM not be able to keep receiving benefits from that early investment only because he didn't get in the game later on when it was more costly to do so?

Perhaps instead of being salty at these long-term members of P5 conferences for investing in their programs early on people like you should be salty at the leadership of your own programs for not doing the exact same thing way back when. Nobody kept UConn from playing all of their sports at the highest level until the 2000's but UConn.

You're post is nice. And I know how you have a certain vendatta against Northeastern programs (as seen by the vitriol you throw at Syracuse), but my point remains the same. You may be in the club (congrats), but that doesn't necessarily mean you (all current P5 members) deserve to remain there... 07-coffee3

That might be the case if the P5 were created by assimilating individual teams but it wasn't. It was created by assimilating five conferences as they were constructed at the time.

And for the record I don't have any vendetta against NE teams. I don't like Syracuse because the vast majority of their fans I have encountered on the internet are thin-skinned brats. I don't like UConn because the vast majority of their fans are like you and feel entitled to something they have done absolutely nothing to earn, be it ACC membership or P5 membership in general. I have no problem with BC, UMass, Buffalo, Rutgers, Army, or Penn State. Temple isn't on the Syracuse or UConn level yet but they are getting there.

After leaving a board of there's I am beginning to see what you mean.

Syracusefan.com is especially embarrassing. Syracuse.com is also horrendous, but it has an excuse. It's attached to a poorly run local newspaper.

Still though, we've made the top 5 of two ND fans (albeit Terry's was a blanket everyone but ND), a Clemson fan, a UConn fan, and a handful of others (Rutgers/Temple/UC/SJU/?). That's not bad - especially after being lost in the wilderness for 15 years. We might not be able to win football games, but apparently we can make good enemies. We've drawn the interest of fans from the #2 program of all time and the #1 team this year, and one of the best basketball programs of the last 15 years :)

Cute come back. Hey, Rice is a great university academically too. Maybe you two belong in a conference together?

Anyhow, keep the butthurt up UConn fans. You're only proving my point. Nobody else is getting bent out of shape when someone doesn't like THEIR school. I mention UConn, and here comes all the Husky fans out of the woodwork to talk about how superior they are, just as I predicted. 07-coffee3

1. JMU - probably the only one where I would use the word hate against. Heard nothing but smack come from them when we were trying to build our program.
2. THE Ohio State - I can't stand the use of THE, unnecessarily cocky.
3. Notre Dame - join the 21st century and join a conference, you're not special anymore.

Texas - Looked like the SWC and Big 8 were merging until Bevo flexed his muscles and Houston, Rice, SMU and TCU were on the outside looking in
BYU - Only program that can give Texas a run on the arrogance scale, and the leader of the Airport 5 who killed the WAC-16
Air Force, Colorado State, Utah, and Wyoming - the rest of the Airport 5
