Looks like there is a chance Heacock will remain at UT. It would be great if he did.

I like the special teams coach hire. ST cannot be an after-thought. Hope he can attract a good OC/QB coach. Seems like we could use a receivers coach, too.

I hate to mention his name but Rob Spence. We need someone that has his kind of idea on how to run an offense. We had playmakers and he knew how to use them. Same thing here.

Was pretty good at UT, but went downhill from here, being fired from numerous programs. Now coaching high school in Tennessee.

Agree. Really like how much better our defense has gotten in only two years under Coach Heacock.

I hope that you are right, but I came away with the impression that after the bowl game he is likely gone. In any event I appreciate his commitment to stay at least thru the bowl game.

Yup, coaching the Rockets through the bowl game but possibly recruiting for Iowa State. Not really the situation we want our program in. BYU will be going through a similar process but with their head coach staying until the bowl game and then leaving.

It may not be the situation that we want but as long as there are schools out there that are able to double or even quadruple what UT can offer in the way of salaries, it is going to happen. We don't have to like it but it is going to happen anyway-----and almost every time we get a coach that can string together a few back to back decent seasons.

I hate to the be the bearer of bad news but most of the G5 schools are nothing more than a farm system to provide a steady stream of new promising new coaches to the P5 schools and their demand for new coaching blood is not going to go away because the game chews up coaches and spit them out like clock work----you see, everybody wants to be a winner, and that is not mathematically possible.

Rather he was here than the unsafe condition the players were left in. It's barely a mitigation as is.

Contracts need to be worded to deal with these situations. How do they deal with bonuses based upon getting a team to a bowl game that you don't coach?
