Texas grabs Tulsa offensive coordinators....(yes BOTH of them)
I've heard of poaching ONE cooridnator before..never two at a time like this.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...-hurricane

Tulsa's Sterlin Gilbert is the new offensive coordinator at Texas, the Longhorns announced Saturday.

Gilbert agreed to the deal Friday night after meeting with Texas coach Charlie Strong, athletic director Mike Perrin and school president Greg Fenves. Perrin and Fenves flew to Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Strong to complete the deal after talks broke down and Gilbert rejected the initial offer.

Video footage showed Gilbert meeting the Longhorns' entourage outside a Tulsa home. The former Texas high school quarterback will also be the quarterbacks coach for the Longhorns.

"I've been looking forward to an opportunity like this for a long time, and we're finally here," Gilbert said in a statement.

Gilbert will receive a three-year contract worth $850,000 annually.

At Tulsa, Gilbert shared offensive coordinator duties with Matt Mattox and coached quarterbacks and receivers under first-year coach Philip Montgomery. Mattox, Tulsa's offensive line coach, will join Gilbert in Austin as the offensive line coach and running game coordinator on a three-year deal worth $550,000 per year.

"We just made two great hires for our staff," Strong said in a statement. "They're outstanding coaches who will do a great job of not only developing our players, but also representing this university and doing things the right way."

Both contracts are pending approval by the Texas board of regents.

Tulsa coaches will be happy....no more sharing the broom closet in the third floor of the YMCA. They will each have their own office now with phones and everything.

I thought we played basketball at the YMCA and football at a local park? Wouldn't they then be sharing an office in the community park bathroom? Gotta stay consistent.

In other news, Charlie Strong loses his mind after finding out that though both Gilbert and Mattox were co-offensive Coordinators, neither has ever actually called a play.

Wrong- the fb coaches shared the broom closet with the bball coaches at the YMCA. The Y is the hub for Tulsa athletics.

Dont tell me my business again, boy.

In all honestly, Tulsa Football + Basketball has always been a farm program. We've had coaches (or assistant coaches) who went on to win national championships in both sports, and another slew of coaches that went on to either become head coaches for the first time, or become head coaches at larger programs.

Bill Self
Tubby Smith
Nolan Richardson
Danny Manning
Steve Robinson
Ed Conroy
Buzz Peterson

Gus Mahlzan
Steve Kragthorpe
Todd Graham
Chad Morris
Mike Norvell

And I'm sure there are a ton more that I'm leaving out.

I think I remember seeing somewhere that Charlie Strong makes his staff EARN their office phones.

Sorry still hilarious that Texas had to beg and plead for the hires. Flying in the president with literal money bags to make an offer almost nobody could refuse after initially getting denied.

Man, our coaches don't even have phones or offices and they still do more with the players they have than ol' Tubby can with all that money and better recruits.
