Huge game for our women's basketball team today at the Murphy Center 2pm CT/3pm ET. Expecting another large crowd (hopefully 7k+) for this one. The last time we beat Kentucky was at home in the Murph when they were ranked #6. Fans will be very excited for this one... Hope it is a big win for the Raiders and CUSA. It will be streamed here for anyone wanting to watch: http://goblueraiders.com/watch/?Live=346

Absolutely. Our games with UK are always very hard-fought. They're really good this year, so it's going to be a huge test.

Good crowd and close game already. UK leads 8-7 after a back and forth. Raiders look to be playing on a high level.

We have a ref that has made three blatantly WRONG calls against MT giving UK about 8 free points. Unbelievable. Horrible officiating, but one who is often at our games is talking to the others saying wtf are you doing.

Disappointing game. Our PG Ty Petty is playing progressively worse through the early part of this season and really is not showing any leadership. Offense is stagnant and they don't move. Freshman F Alex Johnson appears to be best one on team athletically, but as a freshman she is trying to learn system and struggling when our PG really just dribbles in circles. They need work.

Lady Raiders got thumped by Lady Wildcats. Coach did not seem remotely fazed by the fact that Ky popped our girls by 16 points at home. Said UK will probably be in Final Four.

Ky has been good for years under Kennedy. If they ever get over the lady vols hump they may make a deep run one year.

UK will be a deep NCAA team. This will be a big learning experience for the team.

although Kentucky is really good, I dont think we will ever field a team that is a legitimate threat to make it to the second round of the NCAA tournament until Insell starts recruiting better athletes

I heard this said a few times and I agree -- the only two on the team who are close to UK's players, athletic-wise, are Porter and Johnson. Porter is unfortunately a senior who sees only moderate playing time and Johnson will probably be another Ebony Rowe type player, but you're absolutely right -- we need more players like them.

Honestly that is why we have had the success over the last 2 years. We have a bench full of girls who can run all day.

I mean, our ladies are fast -- most are almost as fast as UK -- but just can't make the "moves" that the big-time-like girls can. Struggle for us has been to get that part of the puzzle figured out. When we can make it happen, we look unbeatable. But that is few and far between lately.

I think that's the biggest difference in the women's game. Not enough "elites" to go around. It's getting better. There are more now. Just not enough.
