You fire a proven Head Coach who has had some great seasons with a OC from Duke? WOw, ECU has gotten trashed all week about firing their head coach, this will certainly not help, seems like he was their number 9 guy out of 10 on list...If I was Brohm or any Head coach why would I want to go to ECU after the way the previous guy was let go?

It's quite MEH. Might turn out fine but it's a gamble.

I would say he had to be at least their sixth or seventh choice. ECU trades an ECU alum for an unproven Duke Alum. Don't understand it myself.

They probably thought they could get Brohm or Doc after firing Ruff.....lol. Reality has set in for them. A G-5 coach jumping to another G-5 school simply isnt likely to happen unless a special situation occurs. Why in the world would they hire the OC at Duke is puzzling. Must be a connection somewhere with the AD and this guy.

Trust me nobody but Marshall wants Doc. All of these schools needing a coach yet nobody came knocking on Marshall's door asking to interview Doc.

Ok course. Anybody would of been happy with that record. But did anybody looking for a coach ask him for an interview? Like I said the only school that wants Doc is Marshall. The fact he wasn't on anybody list as a possible coach is evident of that.

Good luck on your hire Pirate. Coach Bower, Coach Fedora and Coach Monken all came to USM from being the OC at Oklahoma State.

An AAC school hires an ACC assistant coach and this has what to do with C-USA?

Well, USM has played your team once. This is USM's history with ECU. If you don't like the thread's subject, I suggest passing on it.

McNeil wasn't the best coach out there as a matter of fact his best team ever the 2013 ECU Pirates got demolished by Marshall 59-23. But as of right now McNeil looks 100% better than the character they just hired.

I know for a fact ECU contacted Doc to see if he was interest, and well he wasn't. Im sorry unless you are in the middle to bottom half of the MAC or Sun Belt you aren't losing your HC to another G5 school. Unless: A)That G5 is his dream job 2)The pay can double on a new job (Alas bottom teir of the MAC, Sun Belt). Then begs to the question why anyone would hire them away

And how do you this is fact. I have been following this process very closely since it started and not one time did his name come up by an ECU official. If he was contacted it would of been all over this message board and your rivals board.

It has more to do with the pay with g5 vs p5. I'm not sure what c-Usa make vs the rest of the ncaa. Scott Frost at ucf makes $1.7 million. Assistant totals make $2.3 million.

I think highest paid cusa coach makes 800k.

A wku fan said they were willing to pay brohm up to 1.4 million.

I suspect a handful schools in cusa can afford to pay over a million, but not many.

Georgia Southern just lost Fritz to Tulane. Fairly certain his pay didn't double but was a significant increase; which GS was trying to negotiate to keep him but talks had stalled. Guess he was planning his exit sooner than reported.
