I will say that people don't get scared on the campus visits at ISU like they do at NIU. Also Blo-NO isnt a complete dump like dekalb.

hahahaha, if you get scared while walking around NIU, then please by all means go to ISU, we don't need that type of person around NIU anyway.

Now that the fuckboy is gone and we can post in peace, i can honestly say there are some teams in the MAC i wouldn't mind swapping for Ill St. Sure they kinda suck at sports right now but they would add a REAL rivalry and maybe foster some excitement in our dormant fan base.

EMU for Ill St?

I would rather see SIU, honestly, get a new market, and larger alumni base. What happens when Ill State starts to trend downwards and the MAC is stuck with a EMU like situation with a market competing with UofI. Especially if most of the casual college sports fans in the area are Fighting Illini fans anyways.

That's true, but everyone down south that way is a Kentucky fan anyway

Yes, I totally agree with this, SIU makes a lot more sense than ILL State does.

Plus there's a greater sense of school spirit amongst SIU alums specially in the > 35 age group, probably due to the fact that most of them went to school when it was the most popular and large enrollments in Illinois. Most the college educated folks in STL are either Mizzou, Missourri State, or SIU alums it's a good new market for the MAC

Yeah SIU is a better addition than ISU. Larger alumni base, more comprehensive programs (med, law, dental), and they were top 5 I-AA in football under Kill and in basketball went to the Sweet 16 under 3 different coaches, and their basketball looks to be having a better year than ISU now. ISU will never grow out of UI's shadow and that's just a fact.

I thought they were changing the name of the town from Normal to Utopia, Illinois?

Clearly you haven't seen NDSU Bison attendance in the Fargo Dome then. Seriously, it's one hell of an FCS program.

Interesting thing is NDState game had a really good crowd. Doesn't mean anything, just interesting that ND state can pack the place.

North Dakota still hasn't discovered High Definition Television yet.

That and they pretty much have a monopoly on entertainment in the state.

UND's hockey program is a big draw as is the Fargo team in the Northern League but that's all that state has

Scared...LOL.

You really need to get out more or research the topic.

Fall 2014 Freshmen:

Half of admitted freshmen earned ACT composite scores of 22 to 26. A quarter scored 27 or above, and another quarter scored between 18 and 21.

My best friend owns 4 woodfired pizza places, soon to be 5 with 2 royalty resturants. When the RD team that costs a lot money and is used by a lot of companies came to dekalb it had a review that was as bad as it gets. Dekalb is a dump ie illini tire is still at the a major intersection of town. Horrible land lords! Student population that has people that cant get an 18 on a ACT. There is a reason the school cant get people to go to it and ISU has become the new U of I.
I cant tell you how many people have came back to me and asked what the hell happened to NIU. People from the western burbs who are SCARED to send their children to NIU.
People of Dekalb seriously? They needed to think about letting in Marriott lol. BloNo cant even be compared to Dekalb its 130k plus people sorry.

#1 Your critiquing a town based on a business on a major intersection? If the owners don't want to move, no one can force them unless the gov't invokes imminent domain with a very good case. I agree I wish there was something more eye appealing on the corner, but this point is stupid to make judgment on a town that's out of their hands or control.

#2 The Avg ACT score at NIU is 21, the Avg ACT score at ISU is 24. Yes these are "averages", meaning some people go to both schools with a higher and lower ACT score. It would not be that surprising if someone applied to both schools and got in with a 18 or 30.

Though I do agree with you on reputation, over the last 10 years there have been some unfortunate events that hurt perception that will take time and effort to repair.

Students and businesses can always come to Marquette. I'm sure the ACT average is a little higher.

And---for all the discord I have read on this site over the past week---Marquette hasn't lost a football game in 100 years or so!

And MU has not lost millions on a football program but has made millions on their basketball program in the 20 years.
