RE: 2016 Football Out of Conference Schedule
Half of the conference is hosting 7 home games in 2016...usually a good way to build up non-conf wins:

Memphis
USF
Temple
Cincinnati
UCONN
Houston* (7 games in the city...with 1 played a few miles away at Texans Stadium)

UCF's former AD was "afraid" to host 7 home games in a season...something I hope UCF's new AD will start to do in 2018 (2016 and 2017 schedules are set with 6 home/6 away games).

Opening with Oklahoma presents a unique opportunity. I am not sure Houston has ever played five ranked teams over the span of six games, but OU will be the fifth ranked team in a stretch that began with Memphis:

#25 Memphis - win
UConn
#16 Navy - win
#20 Temple - win
#9 Florida St - TBD
#? Oklahoma - TBD

My understanding was that we were keeping the Lamar game.

There's a strong push to get out of it

All of those wins were at home. UCONN was on the road. Next year Houston faces CINN, Navy and Memphis on the road. Those will not be easy wins.

i think the bigger correlation is that ward didnt play versus uconn, than the fact that it was an away game
with ward 12-0, without ward 0-1

And UConn lost their QB to injury in the first quarter. UConn without Sherriffs is a totally different team. I am in no way saying Sherriffs is in Ward's league talent wise, but he means as much to UConn as Ward does to the Cougs.

This is a a good point. Sherriffs, while not on Ward's level, is easily the best UCONN qb in nearly a decade (since Orlovsky).
