WOW... Nice

I know Briles didn't like the possibility of his principles guiding the Horn offense.

I don't think candidates are convinced Strong will be there much longer.

This. Who wants to go somewhere where you will likely have to find a new job within a year?

They should fire Strong now. Like it or not it is his presence and the uncertainty of how long it will last that is keeping top coaching candidates from joining that staff

It's too bad that Strong can't just install the option (or pro-style, whichever) and out-athlete the other Big 12 teams. I think it's a mistake for Texas to play the same game as Baylor/TCU/Oklahoma State. That offense was designed for teams with talent disparities to stay with more talented teams. Cumbie and Gilbert should be last on their list.

Texas should be using their muscle.. and using Strong's last name to market it. If they play basketball on turf, they are setting themselves up to be a middling team.

Yeah, gotta think they don't want to be tied to a coach that may not survive next year. Love Charlie though, he'll land on his feet likely in the P5 if he does get fired.

I feel bad for Strong.

I don't think enough people realize how much of a country club environment he is trying to clean up at a time when the Big12 is top heavy w Baylor/TCU peaking

Either that, or they may not care. In my opinion, the Orangebloods expect winning seasons, even if the talent isn't there.

Quote:Word from Tulsa. I'm told that Sterlin Gilbert is now coming for $900,000 annually. Fellow Tulsa assistant Matt Mattox coming for $550k.

Leaked pic from their interview.

At one point Gilbert and Mattox were quoted as saying "we're here to F*** S*** up"

Honestly, I just think it is hilarious that Gilbert turned down Texas once and they had to go through all of the effort to fly Strong, their AD and their president out to get the deal done. Wish we could have kept Mattox, he is going to be a good OC down the line.

Three year guarantee at $850k and a chance to become a superstar if he can leverage one of the best programs in the country to be the #1 choice again for the top in state kids.

I know that I shouldn't be surprised, but that's a pretty insightful assessment, BEH.
