It took over 3 years to "drain the leadership" of AQ-Core in terms of the Operational Wing.

In Iraq it took 2 years to take out the bomb/IED experts from al-Anbar.

Running out of bombs doesn't mean we have "bombed the crap out of" anyone. It appears that the cause is more depleted stores to begin with.

And the linked article itself contains the statements less than half of US sorties actually launch any weapons, and that's up from roughly one third last year. That is not "bombing the crap out of" anyone.

Like the French did, with that ISIS oil depot that we've known about for years but did not attack for fear of civilian casualties. Bombiing the crap out of someone does not mean backing off unless there is zero chance of collateral damage.
