Conference power ratings
Following are the average power ratings for each conference over the past three seasons and for the current year.

P5 conf.....Avg.....2015

SEC...........81.2......79.3
PAC...........78.7......77.5
B12...........77.4......78.3
ACC.......... 75.1......75.7
B1G...........74.9......75.6

G5 conf.....Avg.....2015

AAC...........64.3.......66.8
MWC..........62.1.......61.0
USA...........59.1.......57.5
MAC...........57.5.......59.9
SBC...........55.1.......55.7

Two conference - the PAC and ACC - are trending up. That is, their trailing 3 year average has improved each year since 2012. Three are trending down - the MWC, MAC and SBC.

The spread between the top P5 conference and the bottom P5 was 6.3 points per team over the last three years, but only 3.7 in 2015. For the G5, that spread increased from 9.2 to 11.1 points per team.

The difference in 3 year average between the lowest P5 conference and the highest G5 conference was 10.6 points per team.

The differences between the ACC and B1G are not statistically significant. They are two peas in a pod.

The Top 10 teams were:

Rank..Team............Rating

..1.....Alabama..........95.9
..2.....Ohio State.......93.3
..3.....Florida St.........91.8
..4.....Oregon............91.1
..5.....Michigan St......90.7
..6.....Baylor..............89.0
..7.....Clemson...........89.0
..8.....Stanford...........88.5
..9.....Oklahoma.........88.4
10.....TCU..................87.5

Teams......Top...Top....Top
per conf.....10......15.....25

SEC..............1.........5.......8
PAC..............2.........3.......6
B12..............3.........3.......4
ACC..............2..........2......3
B1G..............2..........2......3
ND...................................1

A little surprising that only one SEC team made the Top 10, but they made up for it by having the next 4 teams in the rankings. As expected, they dominate the Top 25.

RE: Conference power ratings
Clemson has made HUGE moves.

ACC needs a 3rd top 15 program and another top 25 program IMHO.

They made a 20 point jump from 2010 to 2015.
