Full Cost of Attendance in the MWC
This was in the campus newspaper today:

Boise: 5100
Nevada: 4800
UNLV: 4000
San Jose State: 3800
Utah State: 3700
San Diego State: 3658
Hawai'i: 3543 plus transportation stipend
Fresno: 3500
Wyoming: 3240
New Mexico: 2700
Colorado State: 2400
Air Force: N/A (exempt)

This is, of course, a joke. There's no way in Hades that it costs more to live in Boise than San Diego - parking passes alone are $500/year at SDSU.

Does anyone know where a list for all FBS schools is?

You have to spend a lot of money on winter clothing in Boise but only need t-shirts and shorts in San Diego? 07-coffee3

RE: Full Cost of Attendance in the MWC
I'm surprised there hasn't already been more attention brought to this.

All a school has to do is persuade/coerce/force/threaten its admissions department to submit a larger FCOA number to the federal government and *poof* they can now offer more dollars to an athlete. (and every student at the school can in turn receive/borrow a larger financial aid total amount)

Feds gotta get in there and standardize the whole thing to a single common basket of services/goods in a year. Then base the number on local cost of living for those things.

Still not convinced that airline tickets should be included in that basket. But maybe.

Fort Collins is high in housing costs too, as are SDSU, Hawaii, and SJSU. Boise, Wyoming and probably Utah St and Nevada should be much lower. The costs don't make sense.

You'll be surprise how the smaller towns have high prices in housing.
Especially, when restrictions for housing development are the norm in the PAC NW. My sister live in Boise and there basic 4 bedroom house (of 1700 sq ft) was $225,000 and not even in the better neighborhoods. I can buy the same house here in San Antonio, for a bit less.

I was surprised at the housing costs in Reno also.

Common misconception. It's not a cost of living stipend. It's a cost of attendance stipend, which can include transportation costs. It costs way more to get to Boise ID than SD.

Sorry, but I think that's an absurd sentiment. For most undergraduate, full-time students, you're either living on campus or close to it, full-time.

You're not commuting to school. And you're especially not commuting to school by airplane, every day.

Yes, but athletes commute to school and go home over breaks. Flying home / to school at the beginning / end of year and during breaks is going to cost more in small cities than it is in major hubs.

A 3-bedroom house in an average neighborhood in San Diego would be about double that. In the more desirable neighborhoods, it would be at least triple.

Yes it does. The cost of living in the northwest is really expensive. The two story house that I used to lived in Washington State was around $40,000 as a kif, is now worth over $400,000. The prices of housing in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Utah, California and Arizona is around the same price ranges with each state. The food prices are better in those states, but the place to live, the utilities and others are very high in those states.

No. $400K will get you a decent condo in San Diego or a nice house in a crap neighborhood.

If you want something nice in a nice neighborhood here you're starting in the $600Ks...

Anyhow, as far as giving a student-athlete say $500 per semester for travel home ... maybe.

Fun fact: there currently is no commercial airline servicing the state of Wyoming. Part of the reason it's difficult to recruit there. Gotta fly recruits to Denver, then bus them in.
