RE: Auburn is selling tickets fast,
The point that buying your tickets from our university helps the school is a good one.
But, angry old man presents that in such a way that that point gets lost. It is also great that we have as many fans as possible regardless how they obtain their tickets, plus, if some are less able to afford tickets through the school, more power to them and glad to have them in Birmingham.
Which should be a more palatable way to say the same thing...avoiding the angry old hater methods condescension and odd obvious dislike of other Memphis fans, who are not bashing a coach incessantly, but actually are spending a lot of money to attend a game in Birmingham but may save a few hundred bucks.
Believe me, while we need to have the university obligated tickets purchased, it is also a very good thing to promote ourselves if we have a huge Memphis section...period. Have a third of Legion Field pulling for Memphis, that will get attention.

(1) Why are you worried about what I do? Practice what you preach.
(2) I don't "worry" about what others do - just making the point that those who don't do their part have no right to complain.
(3) Never said or implied "super-duper" important, but little things do add up.
Failure to appreciate that results in such problems as the election of poor government officials and highways strewn with litter.

RE: Auburn is selling tickets fast,
I went to a Tigers - UAB game about 10 years ago. Legion Field was a dump back then. We looked at the rusting upper deck and wondered if it would fall on us. Has there been any improvements on the place?

Yes, if you consider removing the rusting upper deck an improvement. I love the old place - it reeks with history and tradition.

Since my position is apparently very hard to comprehend, please let me try once more. Of COURSE, I want as many Tiger fans there as possible. Whatever it takes to get them there - I'm all for it. I am only pointing out that if they don't buy their tickets thru the university they have no right to complain about our conference affiliation. No anger - just telling it like it is.

Gray Avenger, are you going to be sitting in the end zone at Legion Field? Probably not. If I purchase my tickets thru the university that is my likely position as I do not have the means to contribute financially and I do not live in the Memphis area but travel two hours when I make the trip to see the Tigers play. I do have season tickets and support the university as I am able. Are you willing to swap seats with those that have little or no priority? Not likely. We all support how we can. Fortunately my freedom of speech is not based on how much money I donate or from whom I purchase my tickets.

Not true.

Telling other people "how to fan" is what GA does best.
I can do it too, but I wanted to be paid.

Not trying to be a smart arse, but none of the Memphis allotment is endzone seating. Sections 5-9 and 12-13.

Didn't you just stick your nose in somebody else business?
I think it is fine to encourage people to spend their dollars helping the university. The add-on comment could have been left off but it was just an opinion. At least his message is consistent.

May not be behind the goalpost, but this image certainly looks like end zone seats in sections 5-7.

Telling other people "how to fan" is what GA and about 90% of this board does best.

RE: Auburn is selling tickets fast,
I bought two tickets in section 11 the day the bowl game was announced off the Birmingham Bowl website. This was "prior" to the UofM even promoting ticket sales through them. I picked the seats I wanted, and you better believe I'll be there supporting the Tigers just as much as anyone who bought through the school.
