Evans
Does anybody know what his status is? At this point he is looking like our best offensive scoring threat on this team. He will be sorely missed if he is out for the Shootout.

RE: Evans
In a game like Xavier, I wouldn't shock me if Mick almost exclusively plays his older players. Just remember SK didn't score in his first Crosstown Shootout, a win for UC at 5/3rd. Cats need Evans for a run in March, not on Saturday. Chances are that Evans, Jenifer, and Quadri Moore play less than 15 minutes combined. Evans due to injury and the other due to the nature of the game.

I agree completely with your analysis. Unfortunately, we often see early foul trouble in this game when played @ Cintas. Using that long bench has helped keep both Ellis and Caupain fresh for finishing strong in close games. So bottom line, if Evans is unavailable it is cause for some concern.

Your comment about March is so true. I used to get very anxious about the Shootout. While I will watch, I now have the perspective that it's just a single non-conference game; worst case this time, win or lose, is it helps our RPI.

UC needs to get at least two of the remaining games against good teams to have a strong non-conference resume. Beating Xavier or VCU at their place isn't easier. Iowa State will be a handful as well.

Right now this team is bad officiating and a fluke play away from being ranked in the top 15. My biggest concern going forward is that UC needs a win at Xavier to make up for the fact that conference play isn't going to provide too many chances to get high levels wins.

Agree with the importance of this game and the next couple of high profile games as huge for the perception of UC and the AAC as it comes time for seedings in March. Unlike the BE days when UC had a chance to build a decent to strong Tourney resume' with league play alone, our current conference doesn't allow a ton of wins that scream "this time is a top 3 - 5 seed" unless UC wins the conf title or the conf tourney. I would love to count on winning both but luck like that has not been on UC's side in recent history. Winning two of the 3 remaining marquee OOC games should give the Bearcats a sufficient boost in the polls so that the inevitable conference losses don't drop us into the dreaded 7 - 9 seed range.

I agree that Evans is needed more in March than now, but IMO "NOW" (XU, VCU, IA St) is different than "now" (schedule to date except Butler). I'd rather he and Jenifer looked like frosh in these 3 then come the conf tourney or the Big Dance. JMO

if Moore plays alot on saturday, we'll be in awful trouble. He's a turnover machine and another of the big guys that doesn't finish well at the basket.

No disrespect to the young man, but I agree with 54 here 100000% QM has great energy and looks like he wants to succeed but to this point I cringe every time he comes into the game.

Maybe UC can pull a Xavier and this can be QM's big night! UC is ranked lower and X is a heavy favorite, maybe he can be the guy that hasn't done much who has the game of his life to help lead the Cats to victory! I know, I know... this isn't how it works 03-phew

My guess is Moore doesn't play at all. Xavier I believe plays Bluitt as an undersized 4 at times which would allow us to play Shaq there along with Evans if healthy or 3 guards. Hopefully Evans is healthy, if not we might need 10+ minutes from Jenifer which worries me with turnovers.
