Wichita State and Coast Guard would be great to replace whoever gets poached next year. If Marquette restarts their football program I would take out Coast Guard and bring in Marquette. Thoughts?

The AAC should instead consider teams from The Texas Penal System.

You're quoting The Guardian? I'm at a loss. At least you tried.

Alums & donors would notice -- big time.

At USNA, FBS football is a profit center (no scholarships, room & board to cover).
It generates the revenue which funds an entire D1 Athletic Dept, with first rate facilities & staff that are very well compensated.

It's also a HUGE morale factor for the Brigade & USNA staff.

How much would CBS pay for the Army - Navy game ?
Navy - Notre Dame would end.
Would CBSSN still produce & telecast every game to Navy's globally dispersed fan base ?

A big factor in the decision to join the AAC was to retain national tv exposure,
to promote the Navy & USNA brands to potential Navy recruits & USNA applicants.
Retaining the "big time" cachet is key to the value of the brand.

If being one of the 5 service academies doesn't help you consider them a service academy, then I'm not sure what else will.

Marines attend USNA and while cadets decide green side or blue side. There are 4 academies of which CGA is one.

If the AAC adds Army and Air Force -- as well as Rice -- it will be in a good position to bring in some prominent football or basketball schools if they are looking for a new conference, or, want to be independent in one sport and still be part of a conference for the others. Navy was a great add, and I thank every current and former cadet for their service to the nation.

To answer the question: NO. There's no history, tradition, geographic advantage, or fan base to justify joining a conference we're trying to build back to the P6 status it once enjoyed.
