There are reports Doug Meacham is new coach at Tulane. However, Meacham is “not even a candidate" source told @espn

RE: Does Tulane have their coach?
I just read Sonny Cumbie's bio and he looks interesting as well. Almost like a Lincoln Riley clone, both about the same age. Cumbie also coaches the QB's in addition to being Co-OC. Boykin had a chance this offseason to work with George Whitfield, a renown QB coach, he declined to work with Cumbie over the summer. It would intrigue me as an ECU guy because I don't think our offensive system would be a complete overhaul.

Based on the response so far, I think Tulane should sneak him in as a candidate :D.

Perhaps someone got him confused with the current Oklahoma State OC.

This is like when Babers was targeted by UCF - and then they went in the opposite direction and found a damn good HC that no one saw coming.
The new ADs at UCF and Tulane are fricking professionals, man. You never know what their "hole card" is.

This is exactly what I thought of. Media came out and said UCF was going after Babers and in reality it was all just a smokeshow for Frost. I wouldn't be surprised if Tulane were doing the same thing here.

The same thing happen at Memphis when Football scoop was convince we were going hire Memphis's OC as coach after striking out on Odom. Then we landed a guy that was not on fans wish list. It was a total guessing game. I think we have good coach from the hire.
Good luck on search! Sounds like you all have a good AD.

Remember... Meacham HAD a job offered to him already: North Texas. And he (Meacham) turned it down.
It's not done until the ink is dry.

RE: Does Tulane have their coach?
Gil Brandt was playing jokes with TCU fans earlier.
https://twitter.com/Gil_Brandt
TCU people are saying that the Tulane story was fabricated by Texas when they couldn't get the co-OC that they wanted in Austin. This was supposed to be some sort of payback or something.
Longhorns DO have that kind of power in the CFB world.
