Game Week: L'ville
This is a home game (home town game) for one of our posters (Crum). Enjoy the game.

I know nothing about this year's team other than it is nationally ranked, and has been tarred with scandal.

RE: Game Week: L'ville
Rick Pitino is one of favorite in-game coaches, because his teams defend the hell out of you for 40 minutes. That Michigan State/Louisville game was a joy to watch, even though the Cardinals had only two guys that could score (ironically, two mid major transfers from Drexel and Cleveland State). Non-stop, in your face defense from both squads.

For a team that struggles as much we do offensively, this game has the potential to be very ugly. Louisville has a lot of size too, which is something we've had problems with this season. Just get out of there healthy.

RE: Game Week: L'ville
Louisville is very talented, has a lot of size and has honestly been playing extremely motivated since all the allegations that have come out related to the basketball program. Eastern is going to have to play their best defensive game of the year and will honestly probably have to try to make this game one of those lower scoring games in the 50's to have a chance to win. If we try to run with the Cardinals we are going to have a pretty ugly score put up on the board and we are going to have to execute on the offensive side of the ball extremely well.

Louisville's last game was against a previously undefeated Grand Canyon team that liked to shoot 3's and could really score. Louisville ended up putting up 111 on them. I'd like to believe we are a better defensive team than Grand Canyon but we are going to have to be on our A game just to keep this game interesting. That game against Grand Canyon was one week ago so hopefully there is a bit of "rust" on the tires.

I'm looking forward to attended the game live but am also mildly afraid of what the Cards could do to this team especially if they are hitting on all cylinders. Who knows? Maybe Lee will go off and score 50. :) Hoping for a good game.

That is not very reassuring for this Saturday. The bright side is EMU currently has the 32nd toughest schedule in the country (lower div teams not counted). So playing the number 4 team will only boost that.

EMU's current ranking of147, which is down a little from the last couple of years. Once this Louisville game is over, hopefully EMU can get some wins against Coppin St, UD, or UNF to bump up that ranking a bit.

btw, I prefer the "by conference" view of sagarin's. Makes it easier to find teams if you know the conference. If anyone is interested in that alternate view, posted below (doesn't work well with mobile):

After losing games against Oakland and Penn State I am hoping for a weep of Coppin St U of D and UNF. U of D beat Toledo.

RE: Game Week: L'ville
Yes, I'd almost say that is a necessity. EMU will be 2-4 (d1) after Saturdays near certain loss to Louisvile. If they don't beat all three of Coppin St, UD, UNF, that would leave them with a losing OOC record. Not disastrous, but would not reflect well in the long term.

I think UD and UNF are games that EMU should win given they home games against similarly ranked teams. "Should" obviously does not always happen. So these will be exciting games to watch to close out the OOC schedule.

If Murphy wants media coverage his teams need to learn to beat teams like Oakland and Penn State, we got a bit of a buzz based on our OC record last year after beating Michigan.

RE: Game Week: L'ville
I'm going out on a limb and say THIS year's L'ville team is overrated.

As Sam mentioned, maybe their two players are graduate-eligible transfers out of CAA or Horizon programs.

MSU is the only really tough game they're played. I think MSU was the only true road game.

http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/go...chigan.pdf

Most of the schedule to date was all cupcakes or nearly cupcakes, surprise, at home. Our D-I scheduled is ranked #32 while L'ville is ranked #270.

I hope Super goes over to the L'ville board and suggests Rick P be fired for his schedule, a crime against the L'ville students... Lol.

If you're looking for a more "local" reason to watch, remember that U of L has a forward who played his high school ball at Ypsilanti HS in Jaylen Johnson the 2014 Washtenaw County player of the year. I'm sure he's looking to have a big game against his "hometown school."

I hope he's in the starting line up... I want to hear the U of Louisville arena announcer pronounce Ypsilanti. 03-razz

More likely Rick will be arrested for pandering and soliciting.

And the press is going wild with negativity. 03-banghead 03-banghead03-banghead

Me thinks a lot of folks can't find their head because it is in a location where one does not normally look. 03-lmfao (and if you can't figure out that location PM me and I'll give more clues... 03-lmfao).

Last time I checked 90 out of (almost) 360 D-I teams is the top quartile, not a place where one should have to apologize.

Murphy did a radio interview with ESPN Louisville. Talked about Thompson, Louisville, and Boeheim. Interestingly, he also calls himself a "man-to-man" guy on defense.

I look for a competitive battle. JT4 is Louisville material and if Raven is ALLOWED to do his thing, EMU is more than capable of hanging with the Cardinals.
