Monken. He turned a very bad USM team into a conference runner-up and likely 10-win season.

Monken easily. Brohm was expected to do what he did. USM was supposed to be one of the worst teams in the conference.

I would not complain if that happened. But it's between the two I would guess

Rick stockstill. For having his son sit out so he could be a 22 yo freshman! Genius.

I thought you were joking, and you were, but not by much. He's 21 but will be 22 before next season starts. He and Doughty will have one thing in common when he graduates - age. No wonder he was a little better than our freshman QB this year, he's a year and a half older.

Monken no question. Brohm is good but his year was expected.

Gotta be Monken, but Holliday definitely did a great job considering the holes we had to fill going into the season, the injuries we had during the season and finishing 9-3.

Considering four years ago WKU had lost 37 of its last 41 games, including an 0-26 stretch at one point; its recent move up to FBS; 3 coaches in the last 4 years; going undefeated in the conference in only our second year in C*USA: winning a conference championship; AND top it off with our FIRST top 25 Rating.. I think Brohm has earned COY .

Seriously? COY is for one year. WKU was 8-5 last year. This year it was predicted to be better and is currently 11-2. All that previous years of history has nothing to do with this year's COY.

USM was 3-9 last year and predicted to be better but I don't recall anyone, besides diehards, predicting they'd win the East and play in the CCG.

This is Monken's award, without question.

That's fine, I said it was my opinion. I just think going undefeated in the conference, winning a championship and being ranked in the top 25 at the end of the season is something NO OTHER COACH accomplished "this" year.

I do think Monken did a tremendous job at USM and had Brohm not accomplished any one of the three things I mentioned above I would definitely say Monken. Either way both are deserving of the award.

Now if you want to go back to include last year (which you say we shouldn't) then definitely Monken. FWIW, USM was picked to go bowling this year in some pre-seaon predictions, I can think of at least one (College Football Nation) even predicted they would be in the HOD bowl.

I don't know anyone that thought USM would be worse than last year - the same for WKU. Yes WKU was 8-5 last year thanks to the last second miracles at Marshall and the Bahamas bowl - but on the flip side we were two seconds from being 6-7 last year. But you're right it's all about what was ACCOMPLISHED "this" year... and at the beginning of the season both coaches were 0-0.
