They release the coaches votes in the final poll for those who forgot. As expected, only one of the SBC votes in the poll came from a non league coach

Ark State also got a vote from Larry Fedora at UNC, likely because of the Blake Anderson connection

Those votes seem fair, both App and Ark St have had good years and beaten soundly the teams voting for them.

I don't think either App nor StAte are one of the top 25 teams in the country, but I don't have any problem at all with my team's coach (or any other SBC coach) voting for them.

With the G5 in the polls it's often more about perception than reality so why not do what you can to help the conference perception? The only reason WKU can get ranked in the AP poll with a loss to Indiana and a not-even-competitive game against a down LSU is that winning in the CUSA carries some weight even though that league is arguably right at where the SBC is. Either going undefeated in CUSA carries too much weight or beating a bad P5 team does. If we're being objective and not just mindlessly quoting platitudes about "moral victories" GS's overtime loss at UGA is more impressive than WKU's win over Vanderbilt.

And I know someone will play the "butt Charlotte beat Georgia State" card but if we're going to compare conferences on one game then how about South Alabama beating the MWC Champions?
