How much time do you spend on The Parliament each day?
Came across this interesting paper in the International Journal of Sport Communication called "Demographics and Usage Profiles of College Sports Message Boards." Thought it might be of interest.

Where do you fit in?

I'd be curious to know if our "constant posters" are students, retired or just have a lot of free time at work.

Work 3 days a week, 9 months a year, lots of time. Kind of like retired except I get a paycheck.

Semi-retired, but I do put in 25 - 40+ hours a week working on a startup I'm actively involved with.

No secret, and I have been far from bashful talking about it to anyone that cares to listen. http://www.brettapproved.com (or visit our Facebook page at brettapproved) is the first online travel booking and review site exclusively for the disabled and mobility challenged. We've been laying down the foundation for the past 3 years, but only engaged in our first social media membership drive this past late August. We now have over 12,000 active members, and have just kicked off our Series B funding round, hoping to raise an additional $2MM - $3MM to allow us to: (1) hire some fulltime staffing, (2) develop a longterm platform-- including a redesigned website and mobile app, and (3) continue our marketing/acquisition campaign. We've got a key meeting with AARP in Washington DC in a couple weeks, when we hope to forge a partnership. I'm lead investor, an advisor (currently part of the management team) and on the Board of Directors.

Here's a short animated video of the brettapproved story...

+1 from me too.

I travel for work a bunch and have 6 monitors in my office when there, so there's plenty of real estate and time between travel and work to peruse Parliament

RE: How much time do you spend on The Parliament each day?
I'm retired from a paying job but am Toys for Tots coordinator for three counties in northwest Georgia that I seem to have turned into a full-time, non-paying job. (My wife likes me out of the house.) I spend way too much time on the Parliament but was a non-scholarship athlete and cheerleader at Rice (last graduating class from the Institute) and have a love for both the school and its athletic programs.

I am mostly a lurker rather than a poster but hit the site several times a day when I have time. I also enjoy the (usual) civility and brotherhood that the site has but I have started skipping some of the circular, redundant posts on the football coaching situation. Regardless of what we think, and I think we need a change, the postings have become vitriolic and non-Rice in tone. As my mother used to say, "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all." She had a point. The AD is "the Decider" as Dubya once said. He is a professional, trained AD and was hired to do the job. He has access to facts that we don't and I have confidence that he will make decisions that are in the best interest of the University.

Working 4 days per week, and then working around the house the other days. Lots of projects.

Best of luck with what could be a win win venture Walt. Good for you.

To answer the question posed in the thread title -- a lot less than I used to. Enough with the hate.

To answer the topic question, less and less. Multiple threads rehashing the same topics and a higher level of vitriol than ever. No longer a "must read" site.
