On the other hand it does not hurt anybody either. All you lose out on is the opportunity cost of not playing someone that could positively affect your RPI. The trouble is it is not easy for some schools to get schools that would help their RPI. The last thing you want to do is play low end div 1 schools at home. If you win your RPI goes down. If you somehow lose your RPI goes down hard.

It may hurt someone that isn't well prepared to play quality competition when conference season rolls around.

Some of that is bad luck. Akron has only two teams on their schedule to date that are traditionally bad. Cleveland State, Marshall and even Green Bay aren't normally as bad as they are this year. Toledo's schedule is the one that hurts. They don't have a single marquee game. In fact, they are about to hit the easy part of their schedule.

Toledo has scheduled up the last number of seasons. There is no doubt that Toledo scheduled down this year, I assume because there are 6 freshman on the roster. I think TK viewed this as a rebuilding year as opposed to a reloading year.

and these home games aren't cheap.

They are 'buy' games. One game at home with no return (away) game.

Anyone know what MAC teams are paying for mid-major and low-major home games (without a return game)????

I know the highest number in hoops for the majors is $100,000. I believe UB got $90K each at Duke and Iowa State. I would think depending on who you are bringing and what their travel costs are, you might be looking at around $15-20k...

EMU loses big to L'ville. James Thompson IV continues to impress with another double-double.

EMU opened the season, Nov 13 with a D-I home game (Vermont) and won't have another D-I home game until Dec 28 (Detroit-Mercy).

Lot of D-I road games and home non-D-1 games. Next up @Coppin State (2nd of a home and home series).

Yea if NIU is any good they'd have no more than 2 losses, to Missouri and Ohio State, with their schedule.

UB is 5-5, but has already played road games at Old Dominion, St. Joseph's, Duke and Iowa State

Exactly. When you have 7 freshman (1 is RS), you are not going to schedule games against top teams in the country.

It is sad that nearly half the league has a SOS of over 300.. This is why we will never get multiple teams in the NCAA Tournament

I agree but BSU needs this right now. They won a big, fat total of 7 games last year and need to rack up some W's to get the program on it's feet again.

Remember also that BSU had Utah back out on them this year, which was replaced by one of the lower division teams on the sched if memory serves. But, I will agree that the schedule suits for this season. Now, if we're still scheduling a Billy Taylor schedule ongoing in the future, I'll be a bit miffed...

And yet this is the way the league schedules most years and one or two teams still can't seem to win. There are no absolute anchors in the league this year. That is assuming preseason favorite CMU gets their arses in gear.

OU cruising to victory tonight and Miami beats Jackson State, 64-53. Miami only had 17 points at the half but scored 47 in the second half to overcome 7 point deficit at the half. Shot terrible in the first half.
