CCG National Overnight Ratings (Updated)
Not as good as I had hoped, but not bad for the 11am CT game. The good news, the AAC CCG absolutely blew the other G5 CCG's out of the water---its not even close.

Other FBC national Nielsen overnights: Temple-UH, ABC, 2.0; NC-Clemson, ABC, 4.6; Ala-Fla, CBS, 8.3; MichSt-Iowa, Fox, 5.9.

UPDATE (12/20/15)

So we did well compared to G5, but still lacking. I suppose the other championships had better time slots though.

AACCG lost head to head to the Baylor-Texas game, which was on ESPN while our game was on ABC. :(

You want to know why the MWC's tv contract is so bad. Stare at their CCG tv numbers.

Espn 2 I believe... it went against The BIG/ACC Title game... so it had no chance.

It was on ESPN2.
And also went against the PAC 10 championship game also.

Its a double edge sword to be in ESPN hands out west. They could have had us play during the SEC game to fill in their dead space for that day.

Yeah, that sucked. That said, I think that game got quite a boost when Texas set up the upset story. No upset, we probably beat it. I do like we absolutely destroyed the CUSA CCG in the head to head ratings.

RE: CCG National Overnight Ratings
Do the ratings account for the typical fan who watches games simultaneously? I was flipping between several games in the late afternoon/early evening. The only game I did not do that for was the Temple-Houston game.

I'm surprised the USC-Stanford game didn't get higher ratings.

What I'm not surprised at is that the Texas-Baylor game got such good ratings. Texas, even though it's down, is still a big name in college sports. A 2.0 is still a very good rating for a noon time game. Those ratings also show that the SEC is still king.

Between the ACC and B1G CCG's, I didn't watch a snap of USC/Stanford.

SEC had no competition. Not sure of what CBS and ESPN arranged but EPSN could have put another CCG during that timeslot. That SEC rating is loaded and needs a * next to it.

No one, not even ESPN, wants to challenge the SEC when Bama is playing.

RE: CCG National Overnight Ratings
The national ratings were not bad, but the local Houston ratings were gang busters. The Houston-Temple game outdrew every other college game in Houston for the day except for Alabama-Florida. The Houston Temple game drew a 7.0 in Houston, losing only to the 8.5 rating garnered by the Bama game. Houston-Temple stomped the Big-12 head to head competition at 11AM (Baylor-Texas--3.4). The top Big-12 game for the day finished behind the SEC, AAC, Big10, and ACC championship games. So much for the Big-12's much ballyhooed "ownership" of the Houston market.

College football ratings

Here are local college football Nielsen ratings from last weekend in Houston. Ratings are not available for all networks, including the SEC Network, Longhorn Network and CBS College Sports, and for ESPN3.com games. Each point represents 23,373 TV households in Houston.

Alabama-Florida, Ch. 11, 8.5; Temple-Houston, Ch. 13, 7.0; Michigan State-Iowa, Ch. 26, 5.4; North Carolina-Clemson, Ch. 13, 4.4; Texas-Baylor, ESPN, 3.4; USC-Stanford, ESPN, 1,3; Bowling Green=Northern Illinois, ESPN2, 0.4; West Virginia-Kansas State, FS1, 0.2; Southern Miss-Western Kentucky, ESPN2, 0.2; Air Force-San Diego State, ESPN2, 0.2.

wow

One of the many many reasons why Southern Miss will never be allowed in the AAC. High schools draw better ratings then that.

Regular Season Recap (Houston area ratings)

Top 20
10/17 A&M/Alabama CBS 8.5
12/5 Alabama/Florida CBS 8.5
11/7 LSU/Alabama CBS 8.2
10/10 Texas/OU ABC 7.2
12/5 Houston/Temple ABC 7.0
11/28 Baylor/TCU ESPN 6.5
11/27 Houston/Navy ABC 6.1
10/24 Alabama/Tenn CBS 6.1
10/24 A&M/Ole Miss ESPN 6.1
10/17 LSU/Florida ESPN 5.4
12/5 Michigan St/Iowa Fox 5.4
11/14 Oklahoma/Baylor ABC 4.9
9/4 A&M/Arizona St ESPN 4.8
11/21 Baylor/Oklahoma St Fox 4.8
9/4 Texas/Notre Dame NBC 4.7
12/5 Clemson/UNC ABC 4.4
9/12 Michigan/Oregon ABC 4.1
11/14 Alabama/Miss St CBS 4.1
10/24 Oklahoma/Tex Tech ABC 4.0
11/14 Houston/Memphis ESPN2 3.9

3 Houston games
3 A&M games
2 Texas games
5 Non-A&M SEC games
4 non-Texas Big 12 games
1 Big 10 game
1 ACC game
1 Big 10 vs Pac 12 game

Interesting that locally, Houston-Memphis on ESPN2 outdrew all but six Big 12 telecasts this year.

Another thing that pops out: A&M/Arizona St (played in Houston) on cable did better locally than UT @ Notre Dame on NBC. Same date, same time slot.
