Are you sure you don't want to reconsider taking us (SDSU) on as a FB only member? This Mickey Mouse conference (MWC) is killing our programs.

The MWC basically waived the white flag vs the AAC by having its champ play the sixth place AAC team in the Hawaii Bowl...

San Diego ... is in California, correct?

I seem to recall from grade school geography that California is on the opposite side of the country from the AAC. Could be wrong, though.

Unfortunately, having only 15k in attendance for the CCG hurt you worse. I guess San Diego is more interested in the PAC schools?

Houston is on the opposite side of the country?

It was 20k but that's neither here nor there. San Diegans are definitely not interested in watching us mop up another MWC team...

I'm sure they'd much rather watch Tulsa.

I mean, I get it. This was obviously a troll thread.

But there's a reason that the Big East deal with SDSU and Boise was blown up.

College football is and should be a regional affair. SDSU fans should just be happy when Boise has a down year, now and then.

Yep. The MWC in their infinite wisdom bent over for Boise.

Good point -- much better to saddle your entire athletic department with hundreds more hours of air travel per year and millions of dollars more in travel costs, so that football can have a better championship game .... the one year in 15 that it's actually in San Diego.

Yep. The MWC in their infinite wisdom bent over for Boise.

Then go independent in football and join the Big West all-sports.

The PAC schools, Hawaii, BYU, Idaho and NMSU will schedule you.

You haven't been paying attention have you? I said football only. We'd actually save money on travel costs when you consider all sports involved.

Yeah because that's worked for BYU. They are in slow decline because of their desire to be independent. SDSU only makes sense for the AAC if they were part of a larger package of western schools, such as BSU, BYU, CSU, and maybe UNLV/Nevada. The whole western arm of the AAC idea that already failed, thanks to the BSU folks.

Afraid SDSU is in purgatory until the PAC comes calling. Dont hold your breath.

The plan was SDSU to play football in the Big East, and everything else in the Big West. Travel for non-football sports would have been less. The only plane rides would be to Hawaii, to UC Davis (Sacramento is a 90 minute flight) and MAYBE San Luis Obispo, which is a 6 hour drive according to Google Maps, but I don't think that counts traffic, and I have no idea how you'd fly from SD to SLO anyway.

Well, step one: leave the MWC and join the Big West.

If you accomplish this, we'll know you're actually serious.

Off you go.

Alaska Air has commercial service from SD to Fresno. Bus it from there. I guess?

I think it makes sense for SDSU to join the Big West. They should do that. Fresno and San Jose, too.

They can schedule each other in football, along with PAC schools, BYU and Hawaii.

not really. It didn't make sense for SDSU to be the only western school in the Big East/AAC once Boise reneged.
