Kirby Smart at UGA
What are your thoughts on this hire?

Did he actually run the defense at Alabama or was he more of a "puppet" under the guidance/partnership of Saban?

With Coach Smart's first hire being Glenn Schumann from the Alabama staff, it makes me wonder how important Glenn actually is the the whole Bama defensive staff. I know Glenn will be a position coach at UGA (DB or LB).

His entire coaching career besides just one football season was all of the defensive side of the ball and he was a defensive back.

My gut feeling is telling me is he will need to hire someone that can run an offense by themselves and he will need to stay out of the meeting rooms (mostly as an observer) until he knows offensive planning at a much deeper level.

I don't have a good feel yet for how much success he will have. It is a risk that UGA has taken by firing Richt.

I am pretty confident Coach Smart will bring the head strength coach from Bama with him to UGA.
