ACC/SEC Rivalry Game Coaches
Now that the Coaching Carousel has pretty much stopped, does anybody think the SEC East is stronger relative to the ACC?
Georgia - fired Mark Richt, hired Kirby Smart
S Carolina - replaced Steve Spurrier with Will Muschamp
For that matter, Missouri hired the Memphis DC (Barry Odom) after VT grabbed the head coach. Even Syracuse got an upgrade, IMO.
TBH, I'm not sure ANY team outside of the ACC can be said to have a better coach lined up for 2016 except maybe Iowa State (Matt Campbell).
Thoughts?

RE: ACC/SEC Rivalry Game Coaches
ACC far and away won the coaching carousel this season and it's not even close.
As for the SEC, on the West side Bama will continue to dominate where everyone else will be 6-6 to 9-3 teams. On the East side, watch out for Tennessee. If they can figure out how to win close games, they'll win that division.
We may be looking at a point next year where the top half of the ACC is stronger than the top half of the SEC.

Odom was Missouri's DC in 2015 and had previously been a GA and position coach at Missouri.

Kap, I'm curious what you have to say about S Carolina whiffing on Kirby Smart and then getting turned down by Rich Rod [ LINK to FoxSports Story] and being forced to settle for Will Muschamp? What does that say about the state of their football program?

I think it's wonderful. I've enjoyed their entire process. To go from the optimism they had at getting a jump on everybody else by Spurrier walking out on them so early to having to settle for Plan D (or worse) is pure entertainment.
Mushchamp is keeping Elliott on staff and possibly Spurrier Jr. Elliott is a decent recruiter but a horrible OL coach. Spurrier Jr is both a horrible coach and a horrible recruiter.
Muschamp is supposedly bringing in Bobby Bentley from Auburn for a staff position. Bentley is the former Presbyterian HC and was the long-time coach at Byrnes HS when they made a national splash. He's a polarizing figure among high school coaches in SC so for every door he will open among the SC high schools he will close another.
With the additions of Bentley and OC Kurt Roper that means that the best offensive coach and recruiter on their staff, G.A. "Wizz on the street"* Mangus is gone. Most of the people in the know about the SC program will tell you that Mangus was the primary architect of the offense during their run a few years back. Glad to see him gone.

The conference has Saban fever. Everyone trying to beat him by doing the exact same thing, like that will work.

I know you will have the coaching advantage over South Carolina. McElwain is a pretty good H.C. If he hires a good O.C. and gets a decent QB he can give F.S.U. a run for their money. The question mark is going to be Kirby Smarts work at Georgia. How much will it take for him sustain Georgia's edge over Tech? My feeling is not much. Georgia out-recruits Tech annually. I don't see that changing. So, even a modicum of competence should be enough to maintain that edge. What Stoops will do at Kentucky is still out with the jury.
Remember also about the Missouri hire that the strength of this Missouri team has been its defense. I don't think Odum is a bad hire provided he gets a premium O.C. into his camp.
As far as your hires go, I don't think Richt is a substantial upgrade to Golden. I do think he is a great guy. Fuente may pan out, but he is entering Va Tech with some restrictions on staff. He has to keep Beamer's boy on hand and his ability to change the culture is going to be somewhat impeded. He's done a magnificent job at Memphis but how that translates to the upper mid Atlantic remains to be seen. I think Syracuse hands down got the best hire. IMO Babers was the cream of the crop after Houston's coach stayed put.

I kind of felt that way too, but I am very much biased, although I think Richt is going to have Miami being crazy good with all that talent to choose from down in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
