My thoughts on the CUSACG and our bowl-matchup vs. Washington
Congrats to the WKU football team (w/ the exception of that OL w/ the cheap shot on our DL) on their win and conference championship, they played hard and deserved it. I thought we were our own worst enemy in that game. Nick Mullens picked the worst game of the year to have his worst game of the season. I don't think the score was indicative of how close the game really was. Then the fluke injuries...that's insane (I don't think any of them are serious though). I think that could have contributed to Mullens/Richard turning the ball over and keeping our defense gassed the whole game (teams get injured when they are gassed). As for all the WKU fans who were booing injuries, that's horrible class. I'm not gonna judge the entire WKU crowd in the stands but to those who were booing: shame on you.

Washington Huskies
6-6 record
Wins vs #17 USC and #20 Washington State
Close losses to Boise State (3 point), Cal (6 point), and Oregon (3 point)

From watching a lot of highlights on them...if we are going to win this game then Nick Mullens is going to HAVE to be mobile in the pocket to buy time so he can make throws (their ends are very disruptive)...otherwise he's going to be getting sacked or he'll be getting his passes batted at the line. I think the Pac 12 is one of the more complete conferences in the country. Washington is much better than WKU. We better bring our 'A' game if we are going to win this one.

I don't know about "much better than WKU," but they're good. Very pleased to play them. I think a lot hinges on how many of our best 11 defenders can actually go on 12/26. The P5 schools are always so much deeper than us.

You underestimate how good the Pac12 was this year. Arguably the best conference, from top to bottom, this year. They are sending 10 teams bowling. Washington BEAT Southern Cal @ Southern Cal...who went on to play in the Pac12 championship.

Well, you can tell from Washington's schedule how good the Pac-12 is right now. 6-6 with victories over two ranked teams sounds brutal.

Watch what you wish for. I know all CUSA teams wanted to play a P5 team. Now USM faces a real challenge. Hopefully our team is up to that challenge. The USM program has come a long way back, but are they back enough to give Washington a game. I sure hope so. The disappointment of the WKU game is still fresh, so I am concerned.

I wanted to play a crappy P5 team, like UGA.

Washington is going to be tough match-up. That being said if USM comes in fired up and limits turnovers (Mullens needs to take the sack and not try to do too much) USM can win.

Probably one of the best 6-6 teams in the nation. Have to play a near perfect game to win.

Ive watched Washington play a few times this year, they are very physical and will punish USM players if they dont play tough. I think USM is the smarter team and needs to use that advantage. Try to stay away from a smash mouth game and you win by 7-10, get into a physical game and its lights out IMO

The thing that worries me the most is the physical nature of this one. Peterson took his S & C guy from boise with him. The times we played them it was like moving a brick wall.

We always look anemic against Peterson's teams. They are so fundamentally PERFECT. No missed assignments, no missed tackles. I say we should gameplan this one much like the MSU game. Guns blazing, take some chances. Just take the 3 points if it's 4th and goal, coach.

A lot of truth to that.

Yep. Peterson owns us...first thing I thought when I saw the match up. Throw in the talent difference and we better be very healthy and hungry to stay competitive in this one. We will need to throw it over the top to soften up the running lanes. MUST win time of possession and NO turnovers!
