What about Rice (Houston market) and OHIO (recapture the Ohio market and let them build their program)

UCONN hasn't been mentioned at all in what I'm hearing. Doesn't make sense. We have PROOF that the expansion committee presidents have visited the University of Houston and they came to us!

BYU losing their coach tells me that BYU, who has begged for inclusion to the B12, might realize they aren't gettingt he invite. If he believed BYU was close why would he, a devout Mormon, jump ship to a part of the country where he has no recruiting pipeline?

It really does look like the Big 12 has honed in on Houston and Cincinnati.

I'm not too sold on anything yet. UConn has been teaming up with B1G schools for research projects, and their AD (Warde Manuel) is being linked to Michigan (a favor if you will). UConn's president, Susan Herbst, used to work at Wisconsin, and Tulane was only added to conference because UConn persuaded so to get an AAU vote when the time came necessary. All in all, this doesn't mean UConn is going to the B1G, it just means there is interest. I don't really know if UH president meeting Big 12 president means anymore than I mentioned above. We will see.

Personally, I feel Marshall has a bigger brand than Ohio.

Vomit to Marshall, Rice would be a welcome addition to take the Houston market back and have someone more on our academic level. After Rice it is just garbage.

Just remember, Texas is the school that matters. If your school president meets with UT president, then you're in good shape; if he meets with Baylor or WVU president, I'm not sure it means much considering that those two are at the bottom of the pecking order in the Big 12.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Yep, and with the first team into the playoff being Big12, no need to expand for a championship game. May eventually happen, but for now just move along and enjoy where you are.

UConn isn't a factor from what I heard. It is 1. Houston 2. Cincy 3. Memphis.
1 and 2 get the nod because of academics and tv market.

I don't know: Dana Holgorsen was asked about expansion, and he said he was for it, and the first two schools he mentioned were UConn and Cincy (I'm not sure he even mentioned Houston).

Dana is also notoriously a misinformed idiot with a drinking problem that constantly has foot in mouth moments so take it all as you will

I'd go along with the drinking problem part, not the rest. He's actually one hell of a fun guy, and much more intelligent than most on this board.

RE: Houston and Cincy could be headed to the Big 12 soon
Look @ expansion from the Big 12 perspective
Texas “rules”

No way Houston gets in
U ‘thunk Texas/Oklahoma want 2 add another P5 school in Texas?
Them Shorthorns R already feeling
the recruiting “pinch” w/ Baylor/TCU/A&M
They won’t add Houston, ever....
Besides Big 12 is already vested in the Houston market

IF Big 12 was “forced” 2 expand
What combo schools bring the most upside 2 the Big 12?
--Expand TV market
--Open new “fertile” recruiting opportunities
--Expand fan base

Combo schools that best “fit” criteria
Clear #1 USF/UCF no other 2 schools bring more 2 the table
They got it all,
Top 10 population state
Tampa/ Orlando markets
Expanded TV market
Open new recruiting doors 4 most Big 12 schools

Distant #2 Cinn/Memphis safe, SEC territory, decent recruiting area
limited in population, fan support, & TV market

More distant #3 U Conn/Temple/ECU good TV market limited recruiting in roads
(Great 4 WVU/U Conn/Temple/ECU, but not rest of Big 12)

If Big 12 goes to 14
Big 12 could take a risk & add a school o/s of an AAC school like:
Colo St/Tulane/Boise St

& one more thing:
Big 12 will never add 2 schools
BYU & Houston
Won’t happen!

I wouldnt be surprised to see big 12 grab Cincy and UCF(even with its record this year), then have the American grab Marshall and one other CUSA school

There are five AAC schools with a better chance for a B12 invitation than UCONN. Nothing against the Huskies, but the B1G or ACC would happen for UCONN long before the B12 would happen.

They are not expanding for 2 or more years, so who cares who is on top.

Has there ever been a thread with so many posters with negative reps posting? Lol

And then other posters hypothesizing about what schools will replace schools that likely aren't going anywhere in the first place. Too much!!

When I said there were 5 AAC schools with a better chance at B12 invitation than UCONN, let me assure you those five schools do not include Tulane. Just not in the cards. But I'm guessing you knew that.
