Colorado State plays Nevada in what is probably the least desirable match up this bowl season.

I'm probably late to this news, but it made me choke on my dinner and I didn't see a thread about it already on this board. Can you imagine how displeased fans of both programs must be? No matter what happens in this bowl season, the Mountain West Conference will have at least one loss thanks to this match up. Because C-USA or Sun Belt couldn't fill their spot, they needed to pick two teams from the same conference! Is this the first time it's ever happened?

Wow! That sucks. Horrible to get matched up with a conference team. Imagine if MT and USM had to play in the Bahamas or something stupid

…and in Arizona. Truthfully I've been to both Tucson and Phoenix and neither of those two big cities have anything to offer as far as touristy stuff. What a letdown. Those two schools will get minimal fan support. The fans would rather wait for the basketball tourney as it's in Lost Wages.

Here's a question:

Assuming a payout exists for the Arizona bowl, which isn't a certainty...

Does the MWC get double the payout?

they would have done better having a trade between the NOLA & Zona Bowl

I don't know about Tucson, but there are lots of great resorts in Phoenix, especially the Scottsdale area.

This has happened before, of course it was a national championship game. Same conference and a rematch.

There is no such thing as a bowl payout. The payout is actually in the form of tickets and gifts that go to both participating schools.

This happened a lot in the NCAA video games, usually involving the MAC.

The Arizona Bowl is an effing joke - first bowl game since 1994 that won't be nationally televised. Bowl games are usually good for a couple things - extra practice and national TV exposure of your school and team. Literally the only thing good about this bowl is the extra practice time, since the only people viewing this game will be the five people that will be able to tilt their TV antennas enough to pick up whatever crappy subchannel this game will be on. If it's anything like the horse$hit ASN coverage of our games this season, no one in Reno or Fort Collins will be able to pick up the game. The sooner we drop this bowl tie in and ASN coverage, the better.

Bowl eligible teams should have taken every bowl slot first, then the 5-7 teams been thrown into wherever they fit. It's unfair to do this to teams.

From what I've read, they were originally going to be content with an online-only broadcast on CampusInsiders.com. The ASN syndication was added just a few weeks ago as supplemental coverage.

I've got nothing against bowl games, but you ought to need more than a sponsor, a field, and a GoPro to be able to host one.

Fully agreed. To do it otherwise is beyond ridiculous.

The MWC got screwed on this one....

Just shows there are too many damn bowl games. The whole system is busted.

Yep. Bowls were allowed to select 5-7 teams ahead of 6-6 eligible teams. That should not have been allowed.

Very true. CUSA pulled a Sunbelt and only had 5 of 13 teams for bowling. Sunbelt couldn't fulfill their end either.

Here we trying to help you guys get bowl eligible teams a place to bowl and then you choke.

Nola has two teams whose fans can drive to the game. Why would they want to trade for a MWC team?
