"They're getting a complete package"
http://www.scout.com/college/arizona-sta...-departure

Quote:"They're getting a complete package," Bercovici said. "Just, someone who is going to bring a similar culture to what we have here. Character, smart, disciplined, toughness. That's what you're going to see on the field. You're going to see a coach who every single day, every rep, for however long he's there, they're going to get his personal best, and his personal best is pretty good. They're lucky to have a coach like Mike Norvell."

Actually, that culture is pretty much what he is going to inherit from Coach Fuente. This is a very nice transition for the players, the University and fans.

Quote:Arizona State football suffered a big blow losing offensive coordinator Mike Norvell to the University of Memphis. Norvell agreed to become the Tigers’ head coach, as each side describes the move as a perfect match.

I think these guys are basically the same. The only real difference you see is in recruiting

It is impossible to dislike this hire. Young, from the area, OC (and a good one) from a P5 conference, great recruiter, lots of energy. Both Norvell and his wife are from the Mid-South. Just a great fit, great timing, great everything.

Hopefully, we can keep him for more than 4 years!

I hope that Coach Norvell keeps some of what Fuente set in place as far as the events for the ladies to be involved with Tiger football.,...and the tradition set up where our players sing the fight song after a win with the fans.

That is one place Fuente had been lacking. We really did not improve our recruiting over Porter or West. Just as West missed out by not taking advantage of DeAngelo and bringing in better talent. Fuente missed out on bringing in better talent while Lynch was here. Best recruiting class was 77th and middle pack AAC.

Hope we also in improve mental focus and not see so many silly penalties.

In fairness, he only had one year of recruiting after a good season. It is tough to recruit coming off 3 and 4 win seasons. I really think next year's recruiting class would have been much better for Fuente following back to back 10 win seasons and 2 wins over SEC teams (assuming we beat Auburn)...

That's in the eyes of others. Fuente recruited kids to fit his system, he wasn't all caught up in the rankings, just like Norvell said.

Anthony Miller is going to be a star and no one wanted him at this level.
