The committee also said they would take injuries to key players into consideration. Apparently that doesn't matter with us and Greg Ward, though.

The Irish are 10-2 and ranked 8th.

I think if you ask Temple and Navy, they would say Houston played them better than Notre Dame did. We certainly beat them worse than Notre Dame did.

Yet 12-1 Houston is 18th.

On what planet does that make sense?

Worse yet, Memphis and Navy, who we both beat, were both ranked higher than we are now prior to us beating them. Navy was #15 before we beat them. Memphis was #15 before we beat them. So we beat #15, #15, and #24---win our conference, and that nets you a #18 ranking, below 2 of the 3 you beat. The committee needs some G5 representation. Right now its a total joke. If we don't lose to UConn, we finish maybe a couple places higher (because, realistically, how much extra credit will you get for beating a .500 UConn team?).

Under the current committee membership, a G5 will never be placed in a playoff game. The only non-P5 that might would be BYU, because they play enough P5 teams that the committee might actually consider them. Its abundantly clear that playing the 8 G5 games of a conference schedule effectively eliminates you from consideration (even if 3 of them were ranked). And realistically, how often will a G5 ever play 3 ranked teams during its conference schedule? If that doesn't crack the top 10, I don't see how it can be done from the G5.

^^ This is open and shut case right here. I imagine if you presented this argument to them on live TV, you'd get a "deer in the headlights" reaction, because there is literally nothing they could say to explain it.

Houston should be near the top 10.

At least. Look at North Carolina and tell me if their resume is all that much better.

Jeff Long pointed to the AAC's SOS, which helped get 3 teams in top 25. Long said "you can look at our rankings and get messages."

This is really good stuff. You have to think AAC teams start 2016 with a serious leg-up in the access bowl race.

If the AAC has another couple season like this one, it will be time to say screw the Access Bowl, we need to start getting CFP love.

Houston's ranking is a complete joke and the system is rigged but we all know that. Houston needs to take it personally and take care of business against FSU.

I feel our top 4 teams will win their bowl games and all end up ranked with Memphis ending up 24 or 25. Houston should be ranked around 10 or 11 now and should be in the top 10 if they win their game. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen.

Under the old BCS system, Houston finished:

10th in the computers*
14th in the Harris (using AP as a proxy)
16th in the Coaches

for a grand total of 14th, a hair behind UNC, Northwestern and Oklahoma St.

However, it is hard to know what kind of impact the CFP poll had on the AP and Coaches polls. Without the CFP Poll, Houston might have finished higher in AP and Coaches.

Houston would have had to finish 12th in the old BCS system to qualify for an auto bid.

* Massey and Sagarin don't publish their old BCS systems, which did not take scores into account. So I just averaged the other four (Colley, Wolfe, Billingsley and Anderson/Hester). Back in the day, the BCS would throw out the high and the low computer, and take the four middle rankings.

The last Case Keenum team after a millennium in college was ranked in the top 6 and top ten of the BCS. They'd have finished top 5 had they won the CCG.

I think theres a slight chance for us to get 4 ranked at end of year. they have a 5 loss USC in at 25. They play a good Wisconsin team who I think could beat them. If USF spanks WKU (who is ranked 25th in other polls) I could see us possibly moving in, but there may have to be a few other teams lose for that to happen.
