I believe there is nothing any G5 school can do to be in the CFP, but the win Saturday and being the only Texas school to play in a NY6 game should affect recruiting a lot.

Just, continue building AAC programs.

Guys, unless a non P5 team schedules and beats 4 P5 teams OOC, with at least 2 of those being top 25 type teams, it's just not going to happen. If Houston would have beaten UConn it wouldn't have changed the fact that they played the #92 ranked schedule.

No non P5 team played a schedule this year that put them in the top 50 in SOS. This is the ace in the hole for the cartel and why you will always hear SOS, body of work and "eyeball test" as the most important factors. The only shot a non P5 will ever have is if there are no undefeated P5 and only one or two 1-loss P5.

As you guys like to point out, often, a one loss team (maybe even a two loss team) from the AAC deserves the access spot over an undefeated team from CUSA. Unfortunately for you guys, the P5 conferences, and the committee, feel the exact same way about the AAC and their conferences.

And the second year needs to be undefeated with a non conference win over a Top 20 Power 5 school.

For example, I think Memphis had a chance this year. They were 13th going into Navy.

That's invalid because Memphis was unranked for half of the season and got no hype until they beat Cold Mist.

The fact that Memphis was in the discussion halfway through the year says a lot. We all need to schedule good OOC teams and win. Its the only way to have a shot, Memphis proved that. Houston did have Louisville who have the potential to be good and Vandy so its not like they had creampuffs but it just didnt work out this year for them. If SMU could ever become good (haha) wins over TCU/Baylor would be all we need to be part of the discussion.

I'll take that bet. Imho no G5 will ever be allowed to crash the playoff party.

Houston plays Oklahoma next year at a neutral site. Oklahoma, I think, will win the NCG.

beat them on the opening day of college football and go undefeated next year, and Houston is in the playoffs.

The thing the AAC has going for them is it seems that (according to this year, when teams take care of business) beating an AAC team is a boon, not a bust. You get Cinci, Memphis, and Navy all on the road next year, and a resurging UConn and Tulsa at home. If UCF comes back like I hope they'll come back, that's 6 teams that could be bowling next year.

No doubt, if Houston goes undefeated next year, they're in. I'll wager any bet on that.

Your faith in the integrity of the folks on The Committee is touching. 03-wink
