Hard to criticize since MT never puts the number of Butts in seats that we should; but "Tennessean" reports Official Attendance yesterday as 16,823. YIKES!

But with TV, school not in session, exams, local games or alternatives, disgust with the administration...you name the reason...people have choices these days. But the die hards will be there, no matter what.

As to the question raised by the OP, the on-field conference record means something. WKU was undefeated, USM was not. The game should have been a reward for that fact alone. WKU deserved playing at home. WE are a diverse conference with a wide geographical disparity. A neutral site will not draw what a local crowd will draw at this level. That seems real.
.
I agree for sure. The way things are in CUSA currently, a neutral site would be a big mistake. I thought the crowd looked good yesterday. WKU is slowly growing as a football school on the FBS level. Keep having exciting teams and a winning program and it will only get better.

What's important is that on TV it looked great and the atmosphere was awesome. Definitely better than some of these other games yesterday with more numbers but had empty stadiums. CUSA looked good on TV with a great game to watch.

The only thing in CUSA that NEEDS to be neutral site is the conference basketball tournament.

We have essentially given UAB a set of conference championship games without them doing anything to deserve it.

Host team should be school with greatest attendance avg. / or highest pre-sales.

No, the host school should be the one who earns it.

Nothing's stopping one of the schools who can draw 30k+ from hosting it under the current arrangement. Win more games or STFU.

You beat me too it.

Hosting should be the privilege of the team with the higher average attendance for home conference games. The average attendance should be rounded to the nearest thousand. In case of a tie, the team with the better conference record or tiebreaker winner will host.

CAVEAT: If the team with the lower average attendance has sold out all home conference games then attendance should be declared a tie.

And playing all of your tough opponents at home is earning it. This conference needs revenue. Best attendance should host with the caveat in my previous post.

WKU played its two top 4 opponnents at home. Southern Miss played theirs on the road. Luck of the draw with scheduling shouldn't give a team a leg up on hosting. Attendance should decide it.

But you failed to consider inequity of schedule. When one team doesn't have to play a top team and another does. Or one gets tough opponents at home and another plays them on the road. Attendance should determine host.

If a team wants to host then get people to come see your games. Otherwise STFU.

If the conference wants to increase revenue it's a no-brainer. Attendance should be the first deciding factor. I'm in favor of rounding attendance to the nearest thousand so a team doesn't earn hosting by having only 28 more in average attendance.

We can argue the merits all day long. I personally disagree as it favors programs that have longer traditions (i.e. - the original C-USA members).

That being said, neither of us have any say nor impact in this decision so for discussion's sake, I'll just say that you're right, it "should" be that way. In the meantime, I'll just be glad that reality is different.
