Surprise! WKU sold beer at their games. After seeing people pass out/spill it on me/act like fools, I'm pretty happy that we don't in Hattiesburg.

So you think attendance improves by moving the game to Nashville 45 miles from BG?

What another 2,000 or 3000, or 4,000 S. Miss makes the drive with the game being 45 miles closer?

Have you looked at the pictures from CUSA stadiums of the crowds? Not the listed attendance but actual people in the seats? If you have you would know moving the game from a host school is not the answer...

Hell Marsha had maybe 10k for ODU and listed 23k
Rice listed 20k vs Western had 2k
S. Miss asses are 5k under listed
Tech listed 19k vs S. Miss and there were 13k tops

If a school can't get over 700 fans to drive 6.5 hours they aren't going to get any more to drive 6 hours

Maybe you should apply for a job that just sits in front of a computer screen and counts all the butts in the seats for every school in the nation since you're so good at it.

Your stadium holds 22k, no?

One side of your upper deck may have been 80% capacity. Don't know which side, just the side opposite the TV cameras.

I'm fairly certain WKU and USM both played Marshall, LTU, and 6 other below average teams this season.

the endzones are not counted as normal seats and there was proably 1000 people they stayed inside the luxury (topper club ) that watched from inside . my guess 18-20K. i was hoping for a sellout, but im sure bowling green high school playing for the state title a few hours later hurt

In Mississippi they teach us to round up to the nearest thousandth.

BTW, just realized my ex-GF is in the bottom of that pic, HA

Simple solution. Team in the CG with highest avg. attendance per the NCAA, hosts. That way not only the team BUT the fans have skin in the game.

By the way, post all the photos you want, average attendance for 2015 over 28,000. Tops in CUSA.

I'm was strange. I sit right around the 50 on the new side and there were more people standing and watching in the concourse then I have ever seen before.

RE: Re: Conference championship game moving forward.
This attendance stuff is so ridiculous, and i really think that we have better things to talk about than this. Every single school tries its best to fill it's stadium. There can be no question about that. But with TV, school not in session, exams, local games or alternatives, disgust with the administration...you name the reason...people have choices these days. But the die hards will be there, no matter what.

As to the question raised by the OP, the on-field conference record means something. WKU was undefeated, USM was not. The game should have been a reward for that fact alone. WKU deserved playing at home. WE are a diverse conference with a wide geographical disparity. A neutral site will not draw what a local crowd will draw at this level. That seems real.

I think it's a perception of scale issue. His stadium holds much less that yours, so he guesstimates based on the gaps, not realizing thos clumps of people hold far more than they would in BG.

Your stadium holds 22k, no?

One side of your upper deck may have been 80% capacity. Don't know which side, just the side opposite the TV cameras.

No it holds 22,500 and that doesn't count the berm which holds a couple thousand...that was full yesterday. So add those couple thousand to that 80% and you have....92% full on the old side. Not facing the TV cameras.

New side 5,000
east lower 6,000
east upper 11,500

80% of 11,500 is 9200 butts up top yesterday by your est.put the conservative number of 1500 that was in the berm up top and that brings it to... 10,700 up top old side 93% full

The bottom old side was 95% full 5700
The new side was 90% full 4500

4500 NEW SIDE 90% of 5000
5700 BOTTOM OLD SIDE 95% 6000
9200 TOP OLD SIDE 80% 11500
1500 Berm not counted in Westerns max attendance

20,900

Only sold tickets counted yesterday...BOUGHT

For this game students did not get in free...a few companies around Western bought a few thousand tickets. With that all the students had to do was show up show a ID..

The number of students at the game out numbered the bought tickets by at the least 2,000

I would guess 6500 students at this game. They showed up didn't have to show a ticket...ID only. At Western's home games they are counted by turnstiles. Yesterday the students were counted as a group...that number was going to match the amount of BOUGHT TICKETS.

if 1000 showed up the listed attendance would reflect more than actually there.

with 6500 est the listed attendance reflected less than were at the game.

Watched the WKU/USM game on TV. it appeared to me you had a pretty good crowd with a good contingency from Southern Miss as well. There is absolutely no chance CUSA will move its championship games to a neutral field. Nor, is there any present reason to do so.

By your logic, I can say that the amount of WKU fans in the stands in that pic indicates how many were actually at the game. Good job using a picture twenty minutes before kickoff. We had our bottom three sections full and a good portion of our upper deck section.

Nope I been to a Marshall game so I guessed off actual pictures...

listed attendance is bullcrap.

When 2/3 of a 38,000 erector set stadium has 3 thousand fans at the game that would leave 12900 on the other side in a balanced erector set stadium. Marshall's erector set stadium is not balanced. So once you get pasted the horseshoe which was empty all around to the home side of Marshall's erector set stadium...

you have maybe 15,000 that face the visitor side (outside the horseshoe..which was mostly empty )

Marshall might have had 8 or 9k on the home side so instead of 7k...add a thousand or two but still not even close to their listed attendance for the ODU game.
