Only 36 coaches make $3 milllion plus.

63 coaches make $2 million plus.

The lowest paid P5 job is Illinois as $1.0 million. Only 6 P5 schools pay under $2 million per year.

Information coming from any private may not be the whole picture. Still it makes you wonder what methodology went into procuring the information.

NY6 Contender P5 Program $4,000,000
Elite Coaching Jobs $5,000,000+

Bronco Mendenhall has been at a top non power job for 11 years making $2,000,000 so UVA needed to go for 3.25 million to have a chance at a coach with his pedigree.

Matt Campbell a young HC was making $600,000 at Toledo so Iowa State was able to scoop him up for $2,000,000.

Mark Richt was making $4,000,000 at the helm of Georgia and his lateral move to Miami he's making $4,000,000 million there.

The problem isn't the money itself, it is the idiocy people have gotten into wanting to pay $5 million a year for a one year head coach like Tom Herman (aka South Carolina fans). That is the type of idiocy that will drive up salaries to a very unhealthy level.

Head coaching salaries will eventually top out when people realize that it is dumb to need to spend $45 million to fire a current staff and go after an elite staff (aka LSU).

If you chose poorly, it will cost you a bundle to get rid of a coach.
