That was a very interesting read. Of all teams, Rice really ought to consider adopting this, as it is based on pure math. Combined with some of RUowls' ideas, it would be an identity that is marketable, and more casual football fans might come to HRS just to watch it, regardless of opponent or whether they expected us to win or not.
Here's another video from last year where Coach Kelley narrates and explains it himself:

Wow. Thanks for posting this. I too wish Rice would emulate that style of thinking.

That would be a great way to get the students more involved, personalizing the team and staff. It would also help bridge the gap between the two sides of campus. And, it would give tv commentators great talking points about the uniqueness of Rice, the college system, etc. I think the Toad actually implemented this in parts when he was at Rice, and I thought it was a great idea.
Much of this is already done. I know we helpED the freshmen move in and the freshmen football players participate in O-Week as much as possible. We also would have lunches at colleges on certain days and invite students to the game. Not a lot of consistent success on bringing students to the games though. Mostly because I don't think a lot of students at Rice really care about football.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
53, it is awesome how much effort the football players do to try to get their peers to turn out for games - move in, lunches, etc. But my comment was more directed at having the members of the coaching staff being made associates at the colleges, and participate in associate's night dinners or other various activities that the other associates (college alums, community business leaders) do. I think it would go a great way to increase visibility of the staff, as well as having the students interact with a different group of adults at Rice that they normally wouldn't. As a lot of our coaches are personable, high energy guys, breaking bread with normal students for an hour, hour and a half could lead to some great things for all involved.

I believe Bailiff and Co still hand out pizza in the quad on the day before a home game.
