RE: What are we paying Norvell?
MY guess is $1.9 million a year for 5 years with extra bonuses he can earn. The main thing is I hope there is more money built in for assistant coaches.

When I donate my money - they can do what they will with it. Since I have no control over it - it doesn't matter.

RE: What are we paying Norvell?
It is a shame that coaching salaries are made public. Doing so has exacerbated the rapid inflation of salaries to the ridiculous point that is now, with many of them making $4 million a year. Such ludicrous amounts in turn are a big reason that we see fine coaches, some who consistently win 8 or 9 games a year, run clean programs and are being positive role models for the young men on their teams being routinely fired. The fathers of college football (Warner, Rockne, Stagg, Heisman etc.) would be saddened to see such deterioration of our values. I know I am (but despite it all, I can't help but still love college athletics).

As for Norvell, I say pay him and his staff well and with incentives and assurance of substantial increases after they have proven themselves. I have heard every Tiger coach since Spook Murphy speak and Norvell's speech yesterday was definitely the most inspiring and best delivered that I ever heard. I firmly believe in the young man.

Obviously, they valued him there.

RE: What are we paying Norvell?
Obviously, he must be very good as an OC as other universities have sent their college coaches to him for learning new offenses. Even our coaches went there over the summer to learn new things. Maybe that's why we were better on offense this year than ever in our lifetime. Hopefully, he can bring in some good assistants that believe in his philosophy and teaching methods to continue to push our team to bigger and better heights.

It would be nice to know what the Memphis job is worth and I have not seen the terms; how many years is the initial contract?

Wow, he doubled his salary from being OC at Az St.

I don't know what Justin was paid at TCU and don't remember what he got his 1st year at Memphis.

But, it's a good thing, this is what the Memphis job pays now.
