FIFA ... the only organization to rival The Olympics for ruthless greed and corruption.

How might a 2026 World Cup look
with the US, Mexico, and Canada as hosts?

While the specifics of the bid are not entirely known at this stage, some details did emerge, the most notable of which was the breakdown of the 80 total games: The U.S. will get 60, with Mexico and Canada staging just 10 apiece.

The most logical scenario -- especially given reaction to the announcement in Mexico -- would be for the opening game to be played in Mexico City's Estadio Azteca, which hosted World Cup finals in 1970 and 1986.

The final, meanwhile, would likely be played in New York or Los Angeles; Pasadena's Rose Bowl hosted the 1994 decider between Brazil and Italy.

48-team World Cup expansion: Should the CFU become independent?

There are 10 teams in CONCACAF outside of the CFU. CONCACAF as a whole now is set to get 6.5 berths. Selling independence to the rest of CONCACAF isn’t terribly difficult for the CFU, at least on first glance. If the CFU asks for 1.5 berths for their 25 FIFA affiliated countries, they leave 5 remaining berths for everyone else (6.5 – 1.5 = 5).
