What is going on with WBB? We were destroyed by Baylor. I know Baylor is good but being beat by 50? Are we that bad or is there some injuries too?

We're that bad. First year of a complete rebuild under a first-time head coach.

Women's basketball is one of those sports where you can get extremely lopsided scores with the talent gap between the best teams and everyone else. It's why uconn and Tennessee can win every year.

Team is playing hard and actually improved but we have zero scorers at this point. That will change with several recruiting classes but the culture is changing.

I didn't realize the cupboard was so bare.

All the more impressive though that we led top ten ranked Texas through much of the first half. I haven't followed UT since then to see if their ranking has held.
I'm looking forward to seeing the team play up here in Denton next month.

There's still the possibility of an 0-29 season for #271 Rice. The best chances to avoid a winless season are @ #279 Sam Houston State, vs. #286 TSU, and @ #330 Florida International.

We'll win some games (and wouldn't it be 0-30 or is it not an automatic you advance to the conference tournament on the women's side?). Probably not TSU but Loyola, Chicago is another good possibility. Goodwine and Rainey are decent players (but it doesn't help that neither can make free throws), and Hawkins is capable at the point. A couple of the freshmen guards are playing better too. We need an upgrade inside for sure.

One of the recruits for next year just scored 44 points in a game the other night. She would have outscored the entire Rice team in two games. 8 for 11 in three-pointers. Maybe we can get her to transfer at mid-semester.
