Then our average without those games that you keep whining about would still be higher than Houston. Didn't your coach call out your fans for not coming to games?

Yeah, sure it would have been.

Even if that were the case (and it isn't), it wouldn't speak well of your program that 15K+ of your fanbase can only be bothered to show up if ND or Penn State are in town.

While you were playing Memphis and UConn with your entire season on the line your average shrank to less than 30K fans... meanwhile we finished the season with growth to over 40K people for Memphis and Navy.

I take no pleasure in pointing this stuff out, but remember that I wouldn't have bothered to do so if you had just been the least bit contrite about CCG ticket sales instead of being super defensive and trying to (stupidly and incorrectly) attack our attendance.

We have very similar attendance which leaves you no room to talk trash. I was at the Temple-psu and Temple-nd games so I think I have a better idea of how many Temple fans were there than you do. 45k easy

Hello? Trash talk?

YOU BROUGHT THIS UP!

Your attendance eyeball test is as much of a non-starter as you comparing UH games against Tennessee Tech and Texas State to Temple games against PSU/ND.

Take your medicine and move on.

Again, a Houston fan replied to the OP and called us pathetic, I was simply responding to that poster and your got your panties in a bunch. You could improve your reading comprehension

He's much to turbo'ed up to be aware of who he's actually responding to. :)

This is such a silly thread.

Having a week to by tickets, arrange transportation, housing, and other arrangements immediately after Thanksgiving is tough is a difficult situation to give anyone a hard time over.

Congratulations on the great year and outstanding, conference leading attendance.

Good luck to both the Owls and Cougars and may the team that performs best win the championship. It's been a great year for both programs.

Oh the irony.

If someone offered me an over/under on 100 on tickets sold to Houston fans for a game in Philly on a week's notice, I'd take the under and run.

I don't blame Temple fans one bit. I don't have the time to travel a couple thousand miles with no notice either.

Temple will travel well to the Fiesta Bowl or Peach Bowl... wherever the bowl selection committee sends the at large bid...

You'd take that bet, and you'd lose.

There's over 25,000 UH alumni in Philly, NYC, and DC.

Ah, so Houston only has trouble selling tickets in their home city. Got it.

My point remains. Change the city to Cincinnati or Greenville then. Houston would barely be able to sell any of their allotment of tickets to an event like this.

The 3k tickets returned would provide ample seats to walk up fans to attend the game. Our attendance problems are no secret and it will be awful if we don't put 40k in the stadium for this championship game.

I think we had 1500 for the ECU Champ game in '08 - so you are probably correct.

Defensive much? Last time I checked nobody in the AAC is batting .1000 for home attendance.

And to be fair, nobody would show up en masse to Greenville since it is in BFE and not close to any other conference members.

You're right that hardly anyone in the AAC would travel in significant numbers across divisions (except for Navy as an Eastern geographic outlier in the West) on a week's notice, but there is zero sugar coating that 50 tickets is very, very bad and likely one of the worst outcomes possible in terms of visiting fan attendance for this game.

The only way I could see less visiting team tickets getting sold is if Tulsa was traveling to ECU for the CCG.

Nobody is perfect, but this is inexcusably bad.

Why would you do that instead of buying from your school and keeping the money with Temple Athletics?

I know many people who are either saving their money for the bowl game and/or couldn't make last minute arrangements to travel on very short notice. I personally traveled up to Philly three times for home games and made car rides to Greenville N.C. & Tampa to see the Owls play. We easily had at least 500 people at both those games and would have had a similar crowd for Houston if it was a scheduled game.

Come on man, seriously? Batting .1000? Do you even understand what you're saying?

You would seriously do yourself a favor by just stepping away and being quiet. You're making yourself look more naive than you probably are.

Good luck in the championship game. I hope both teams put on a great game for the conference and the national TV audience.

Outside of PSU and WVU, northeast teams don't travel all that well. Houston is a long trip -- you have to fly. Are you going to fly to the CCG and then possibly fly to a bowl within a month of each other?

Teams aren't going to travel to the game -- that's why it's played at the higher ranked opponent's home field.

Temple had the chance to clinch two and a half weeks ago. That would have made a substantial difference in the amount of tickets sold in their allotment had they done so back then. Alternatively, they would have been the home team, so it would have been more of the same, just the opposite.

This is ridiculous. Temple has over 100+ people already registered for the official university tailgate at the game. You need to pay for this tailgate. I will go out on a limb and state they are all going to the game.

RE: Temple was allotted 3000 title game tickets
I simply reported the facts as told by the UH SID.

I made no editorial comment. I certainly don't believe that Temple will only bring 50 fans to the game.

That said, Temple was our smallest announced home crowd last year by a couple of thousand fans. I was never expecting them to travel well to Houston on short notice.

As someone mentioned above, this is exactly why we don't do neutral site title games.
