[SBR] Ray Watts resigns; accepts Dean position at LSU School of Medicine
This is not a drill. I heard this first-hand tonight at a faculty awards dinner at Children's. He unofficially "officially resigned" Friday, and he did not come to work Monday or yesterday. He was at work this afternoon (and at the dinner) taking care of some administrative things. I'm not sure when the press release will be, but I figured I'd post it here so someone more well-connected than me can figure out what to do with this information. Scary to think that last year around this time what kind of mess we were in. I shook his hand tonight - he looked genuinely happy, and not just because he received an award tonight. I guess he got tired of getting all of those emails from people thinking he was our university's president. Nonetheless, I think he and his family will be happier in Louisiana.

I'm pretty sure it's the Ray Watts that was on the Children's of Alabama commercials last year. He was set to resign in December to go to LSU.

Was this an intentional troll job or an honest mistake?

Intentional. I admit at first I thought it was Ray L Watts, though. A different person mentioned how they were going to miss Ray Watts during their acceptance speech and I nearly lost it. Then I realized who he was talking about...

Both Dr. Watts were in attendance tonight, too, which only added to the confusion.

If I was the Children's RW, I'd get as far away from the UAB RW as I could so as to not be confused w/ him

Similar names can be confusing. There is a Nixon Road out here named for Richard M. Nixon who was a Mayor of Pell City. The difference was in their middle names -- Milton, not Milhouse.
