Recent articles made it seem like we'll know in 2-3 months.

Wow, a negative -61 rating. I don't know whether to turn away or applaud. That must have taken some work.

I almost wish the conference would just go it alone with no outside tv deal. Being able to set good times for kickoff and getting more butts in the seats is more important than the little exposure we get for the money. Create a CUSA Netflix streaming channels and setup our own conference tv. We would get the same amount of eyes watching and be paid by Netflix. It would be a risk to try this but with cable cutting excellerated, it's only a matter of time before ESPN and Fox quit paying the outrageous sums even to the bigger conferences.

The current contract is going to go down to MAC levels so we need to do the best we can on getting people to the games.

I would agree with this but it would affect recruiting in a very negative manner.Better to be on TV and get no money than not to be on TV and get no money.

If CUSA is going to get MAC-level rates, I hope they at least get MAC-level exposure on ESPN. Getting lowballed AND having a lot of the product shunted to the patchwork cotillion of secondary digital feeds and regional sports nets that is ASN is too tough to stomach.

We have big reason to be concerned. All G5 does. Even with the AAC, and their great season they are having. One of the G5 conferences will have to string several seasons like the AAC is having to gain value in today's college football market. Sucks but the truth.

I believe they AAC has earned enough to at least stay where they are at as far as money. All others will see a decrease. Our only hope is that we are more aligned with non-ESPN networks that may be desperate for product, and at least keep us where we are.

I agree especially when ASN games get blacked out on Directv when you live 500 miles away from where the game is played. 03-banghead

RE: Just curious? What is the status of the CUSA tv/cable contract renewal?
From an accounting stand point, more ticket sales and less TV money will be awash with better dates and times for home games and the fans that go to the games will enjoy it more. i think the conference should be proactive and setup something with amazon or netflix and have all games streamed live using broadcast majors from each college. Make the game about the schools that are playing. Yes it would be a risk but in 10 years, ESPN will be less than half as big and Fox will give up as streaming will be mainstream.

This is going to happen sooner rather than later. Think of the exposure as the first and only all digital conference.

Unfortunately, there would be no exposure with a deal like that.

Fairly sure, considering previous reports, that Fox will remain our 1st tier partner with ASN and ESPN3 involved with the rest. Likely a surprise participant as well.

I was against being involved with ESPN3 until they started putting many of their games on Directv without having to purchase gameplan. Now I'm all for it.

I think we will be cashing those escrow checks from UCF, SMU, Memphis, Houston, East Carolina, Tulsa and Tulane.

If last season was this year, it might have helped with tv negotiations. C-USA is not having a good top to bottom showing in football this year. We have 4 good teams and a lot of mediocrity along with some major disappointments (UTEP for one). Not helping.

Not trying to be that guy but try accelerated. I mean it's not a typo and it's a word you may need in life. Not bashing your point, which is a good one.

I see your point, but really, does it make that much of a difference how good the teams are? What TV execs want are eyeballs. If more people are watching a mediocre CUSA product than a good MAC team or MWC team I think that means more to where our contract will be than wins and losses. Of course, more wins mean more interest, but thats year to year. Each school has a set of loyal fans who will watch and thats what we need to increase in order to see more TV money. It could be spun that if we have good ratings with lousy teams, thats even better, because when we have good years the extra eyes will be even better.
