It's been a week, yet no thread. It didn't get any run on the board I suppose because he passed on Thanksgiving.

RiP to Guy Lewis. His public viewing has been happening this evening.

Only 8 coaches have more Final Four appearances than Lewis.

There was a moment of silence at the UH game against Navy. RIP to a great coach.

I thought of starting a thread, but wanted it to come from a Houston Fan.

What a great coach and college basketball advocate.

Houston was so lucky to have him. Early on, he put Houston basketball on the map and later did wonders giving the SWC credibility.

As a SMU fan, I am forever grateful and have nothing but fond memories of Coach Lewis.

He deserves much respect.

/cheers

RE: RiP Guy Lewis
I grew up in Lake Jackson and I remember him at a fundraiser when I was about 7-8 and he coached the Houston Oilers against a local team. Why it was in LJ I have no clue but it was cool.

I also started one on the CS&R board, so it may have been in there.

Guy Lewis and Bill Yeoman were the face of Cougar athletics for decades. That time period was also the Cougars best era.

I respected those guys as much as anyone outside of Memphis athletics.

RIP Guy Lewis.......coach, innovator, breaker of barriers.

I meant to post a thread about his passing shortly after it happened, but my schedule was crazy at the time.

Rest in Peace, Guy...and thank you for the memories. God rest your soul.

Guy Lewis yes.
Bill Yeoman no. He piled it on our FB team when most of the players were sick. I believe he was seeking revenge for the times we upset his ranked FB team.

Coach Lewis helped put basketball on the map in football crazy Texas. Unfortunately, the national media only remembers the 2 NCAA championship game losses. I'm just glad he lived long enough to see a huge injustice righted by finally being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame a few years ago. He was a great man from a great University.

RE: RiP Guy Lewis
The national media remembers more, the ESPN crawl brought up the Game of the Century when announcing his death for example .
