Were I Memphis, I would not negotiate with a Sexton guy ever again. Or at least the next decade.

Amen be done with Sexton and his cronies.

If sexton had anything to do with it it will turn out bad.

RC and Sexton was the reason for Porters demise and other bad hires.
Be done with him for ever and just use the search firm if needed.

Never did understand this line of reasoning, Tell me again why Sexton would have undermined his own client [Porter] in favor of lesser clients [ Debose, etc]

Fill us in, so we will know ...

2) new guy will likely want to bring in his own guys for the coordinator positions, I doubt he would agree to a demotion

Considering the "player situation" at Missouri and the fact that Odom is a hell of a DC --- I guess we'll disagree.

If Missouri is hiring a head coach from somewhere else, that coach is almost certainly going to want his own coordinators to come with him. He might be a hell of a DC, but if the HC hasnt worked with him before, he's not going to sh*t on his current DC to take someone unknown to him.

Sure he will. Did Fuente take his DC or did he keep Foster on staff..?

Odom isn't going to go hungry. He's a very good DC, he'll find a job somewhere.

We wish he took Scott with him.

Galen scott is a good man and a good coach. He could not take him with him because of the other DC and OC in place there, and if he could have he would.

Good man - no doubt. Good coach - my fairly uneducated eye didn't see it

I think it's possible that Galen's a very good coach -- just isn't a good coordinator

We got burned by big plays a lot, specifically because our pass rush was horrible, but we were really good against the run. We also completely shut down SMU in the last game. Half of our schedule was filled with top 10 offenses, and we lost a hell of a lot on defense, so Im not sure that Galen is all that bad. We just didnt have the athletes, and most of our opponents where quality on offense.

Mmm. Our defense, the weather, and SMU's quarterback's shrimp sized hands shut them down. He missed several wide open receivers and at least two touchdowns. The defense had noticeable improvement throughout the year, but the last game had several factors that lead to a goose egg for SMU.

It did, but SMU was averaging 400+ yards of offense against one of the toughest schedules in all of FBS. ( baylor, tcu, and temple were all close games until the end.) And we held them to under 100 yards. And its one thing to hold them far below their 27.8 point average. Its another thing altogether to pitch a shutout.

Glad to hear we brought out the big guns for the offer. But if he turned Timberlake down, he must really want something else.
