He's 40 and has been there for 10 years. Crazy.

C-USA has 14 teams for basketball. The top six teams -- La. Tech, ODU, UTEP, WKU, UAB, and MTSU -- are actually decent. If they were counted as a separate "league" they would be far ahead of the Sun Belt and not too far behind the American. Their combined record is 26-12.

It's the bottom 8 teams of the league -- FIU, FAU, Charlotte, Marshall, Southern Miss, Rice, UNT, and UTSA -- who are just horrible. Their combined record is 11-38.

Charlotte and USM have both had good teams in the past and can do so again. USM is still in recovery from the Tyndall disaster. Not sure what happened to the 49'ers but they have a history of success and are well-positioned IMHO to be strong again if the right people are in charge.

The CUSA fans always said that ECU and Tulane were dragging their league down, but I don't ever recall CUSA finishing below 13th when ECU and Tulane were in the league; in fact in most years CUSA finished in the 8th through 10th range when ECU and Tulane were in the league. I guess that ECU and Tulane were not the problem after all.

the 1 tweener year when Memphis etc. had left- CUSA was #15. Last year 17, and now so far this year 22.

It's who they added that screwed the conference. Instead of F_U, add Ga Southern and Ga State. Instead of UNT and UTSA, add App State and JMU.

You lose Florida yes but I like the GA market better and it actually helps connect the conference better.

App State is obvious and would've created a great rivalry with Charlotte. Same with JMU and ODU. Both also helps reduce the travel for Olympic sports.

Also let's not discount their lack of TV exposure since the departures.
