Heacock really wants the HC job at Toledo.

I like what he's done with our D. It has gotten a lot better. But has he got the recruiting experience? We need to hit Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and, Indiana hard.

He was the HC at Youngstown State for 9 years. But really, the bulk of the recruiting is done by AC's The HC just tries to close the deal......in most cases.

There are some potential candidates out there who already recruit Pennsylvania & Maryland, key states for us in recent classes. The impending coaching change at Maryland may help the Terrapins recruit better in their own state, though.

Campbell needs to thank Heacock for bringing some toughness to the team. Before he arrived two years ago we couldnt tackle a Mount Union cheerleader. One could easily surmise that Heacock got Campbell his new gig.

An Open Letter to Mike O'Brien
I can't believe we'd let these chach's come back and coach the bowl game after they've bolted.

Would be curious to hear some honest answers out of current guys on the team about how they feel about this. Especially freshmen through juniors.

RE: An Open Letter to Mike O'Brien
Two of the biggest names contacted by Maryland (Richt and Durkin) have strong recruiting ties to the Southeast. I'm sure breaking into that region is one of the goals for whoever gets hired to rebuild that program. Maintaining a good base in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic can be done by the right coach regardless of moves made by other schools.

I doubt Iowa State would let the guys already officially hired to coach Toledo any longer. I would hope Toledo wouldn't let Iowa State employees into the football facilities.

Oh those guys definitely won't be. But the others that have already been working with Campbell at ISU that aren't officially on the staff yet have no business being here either.

They just hired Alex Golesh who was the recruiter of the year in the Big Ten two times so I think they will raid Illinois of a bunch of players as well.

Yeah, raiding a team that beat you makes some sense. Raiding Illinois is begging for the same outcome Beckman got.

Golesh is an Ohio guy. He has strong ties to coaches in Ohio and he did bring a recruiting presence in the state of Ohio to the Fighting Illini. Illinois didn't actually recruit the state of Illinois that well, considering.
