Dude, North Carolina is not jumping Ohio State under any circumstances. None. This is not a discussion on whether UNC is (on the field) better than Ohio State.

This IS a business discussion on the fact that the TV people in the room (with the committee) will be salivating over an Alabama vs. Ohio State semifinal rematch.

When it gets to that point, the Committee will take the easy way out (that North Carolina has already provided) -- Jeff Long alluded to it last night:

2 FCS Games
1 Bad loss to an ugly SEC team
(and, if you watched the overnight SportsCenter this morning, they had the first of many UNC/Ohio State comparison charts -- I told you that was coming)

And since Jeff Long alluded to it last night, it will be alluded to again if the Committee has to compare the two schools.

Here's the other factor that goes totally against North Carolina:

ESPN is paying thousands of dollars to get/convince us to watch those semifinal games on New Years Eve, and again, Alabama vs. Ohio State is a cow cash that will ensure the highest viewership possible.

That's why Ohio State is #6

Stanford, if it wins has just enough recent "street cred" that they would past Ohio State, and even then, I wouldn't put it past the Committee to cite Stanford's 2 losses as a reason to take Ohio State over them.

Again, this is why Ohio State is #6

Look -- I won't put it past someone from the 'committee' to slip the PAC-12 refs a l'il something to make sure USC wins if the game is close in the 4th quarter...

Woody Durham's boy, Wes, said it best on a recent interview on 99.9 the FAN when talking about the playoff:

"This is still a business."

Alabama vs Ohio State, if they can get it, is good for business.

2 B1G teams won't get in. If Ohio St gets then they will announce that the system is a sham. Stanford is next in line, to bring in the west coast.

My above cynical scenario assumes a North Carolina and a Stanford loss.

That, IMHO, would produce the "possibility" of two teams from the B1G.
That would depend on how the Committee would then view Clemson, post loss.

I would think that the only way that Ohio St gets in is if NC, Stanford & Alabama all lose. Someone in the current 4 would have to lose. Clemson plays NC, Oklahoma doesn't play & the winner of the B1G CCG will be in. Ohio St could beat out NC even if they beat Clemson with a Stanford loss.
