I see what you're doing here but to rank by what some kid says is ludicrous.

It's based on offers not opinions of scout and rival.

"Major recruiting services rank these athletes based upon the opinions of their experts. In contrast, the offer-based approach represents the perceptions of college coaches by quantifying the scholarship offers they’ve extended to each athlete."

1. LSU - But get rid of Miles anyway - according to LSU fans

64. Tech
68. Marshall
78. Southern Miss
79. WKU
81. FAU
90. FIU
95. Rice
99. MTSU

most schools always offer more than the allowable.....I don't have a clue what this means other than a smaller school getting more interest from a prospect if they are 'high' on this list....maybe I'm missing something....

That's true and a recruit could say he has offer from x, y, z and only have an offer from x. Each rating system has flaws
and that one has the biggest flaws....

RE: Scout.com current 2016 recruiting rankings for CUSA
Just something I have noticed watching years of Marshall recruiting and how those players work out. We have a much higher success rate with players from Virginia and Georgia, and to a lesser extent, NC, than we do with players from Florida. They seem, on average, to work harder, stay out of trouble and develop better. We take a lot of kids from Florida, so we have a lot of contributors from there, but percentage wise it's more roll the dice.

We also have had great luck with overlooked low rated linemen from WV and eastern KY. A bunch of big, tough farm kids. We seem to have horrible results from every higher rated offensive lineman we get.

Yeah, that's why I have been paying attention to 247. Scout and Rivals don't list most of UAB's commits. WKU has rocketed up the rankings there as well.

This. They are ignoring UAB commitments. That ranking should be a LOT higher for the Blazers.

Yep, even Devon Johnson came down out of the mountains to play in Huntington.
I know of at least 10 D1 level WV kids that haven't been recruited hard and haven't committed anywhere. Probably have dreams of WVU and Marshall is to busy chasing Florida recruits.

Well, we can get a lot of those kids as walk ons. Look at Clint Van Horn, two time all conference tackle and would have been this year too if not hurt early. Just a walk on.

None of it means a thing until February, and even then its still guesswork.

However, Charlotte lost its recruiting coordinator when Coach Ratliff passed away. That effectively put a halt to their recruiting just as the season was starting. It seems that they immediately hit the trail after this weekend's loss to Rice. I'd expect them to get a bunch of verbals over the next 60 days.

Whats better, a solid Juco recruit that contributes for 2 years or a high school recruit who never contributes but one year, two years or never? Sure looked last Saturday that Tech had a lot of high school non-contributors on the field. 05-stirthepot

Thoughts and/or comments? Looks like my Toppers are doing well. I'll be more excited when we get this class signed, though.

All rankings are pointless until Signing Day. Even then they are pointless. The best was a few years ago Tulane fans posting about their "top" recruiting class in June or something.03-lmfao

I really hope we get a Top 25 recruiting class this year. We would be the first G5 to pull it off.

(12-01-2015 01:11 PM)WKUYG Wrote:  I look at recruiting ranks two years after the fact....

growth after getting in a college program accelerates 3x faster than over 3 to 4 years of hs football. That's why you see so many 6 foot 185 pound turn into all conference players. They might not have the genetics to get to 230 in hs but with hard work, heart and a good SC coach they get as big as that 230 player after a couple years of hard work... a lot of those 230 hs player stays the same from HS.

A lot of these players are only seen (rated) based on one look if that and that's if they are playing on a team with higher ranked players. So heart goes unnoticed by those star people. Where a coach might look at 4 or 5 game films or in person and notice the drive/motor a kid being rated a 2 star has and sees something for the future....

he might see that kid drive through every tackle or not stop till the whistle or get knocked down but get up and chase a play...

raters dont see enough of that

Ok, I agree with every single thing you just said. 01-wingedeagle
