Frankly, that was a very clever move by Southern Miss. Its not like Bailiff is capable of beating Baylor, so we lose ancillary revenue and ticket sales but gain a payoff; and we get a loss either way.

I agree, but this is a case of lose the battle to win the war.

Imagine if we had 35k fans in HRS watching Rice get beaten to a pulp by Baylor- that would be the end of crowds at HRS for next season. No one would come back.

I know that I am probably in the minority, but I don't like the idea. 2006 had @UCLA, Texas @ Reliant, and @ Florida State in successive weeks. We were a considerable underdog headed into Army @ West Point after losses to UH, UCLA, UT, and FSU. It took several miracles and close games that year to get to the New Orleans Bowl. The Cardiac Owls, the Cinderella Owls they said, and they were right. It isn't worth putting this team or a new coach behind the 8-ball like that for one more year of Bailiff.

Baylor at Rice or Rice at Baylor is unlikely to change the outcome of that game. 6 Bear turnovers for points might, but not location. However, I don't think that merely changing the location of the game would produce a big enough bump in pay for the purpose discussed. I meant it would be unwise to sell another game, i.e. adding North Carolina (who has two FCS schools on their schedule) and dropping Prairie View for 2016.

FYI...Rice has sold a home game before. In the last 2 years of Arkansas in the SWC we were scheduled to play at Little Rock the next to last year and at home the last year. We sold our home game and had to listen to the crap about Arkansas going to the SEC for two straight years in the Hills.

Yeah, that screwed us so badly that we went to our first bowl in 45 years.

I'd move the game to get a bigger payout, whether we make a coaching change or not.

I disagree. I like JK's plan of having 6 home games every year. Need to start giving fans a reason to come to Rice Stadium, even if it is to see our opponent. I would be OK with it for a single-season if that is what is needed to upgrade the coaching staff. But I wouldn't want to do it just for the $$$.
