For the lunatic fringe that wanted Steve Logan and his quirky passing game out of ECU for a more defensive and smash mouth ball control game chew on this you bunch of dopes:

Quote:Popular football theory says the running game is paramount, but look at the NCAA numbers from 2004. The top seven teams in passing efficiency had an average record of 11-1 and six were ranked in the final Top 25 -- five in the top 10. The top seven teams in rushing yardage had an average record of 7-4, and only four of them were ranked in the final Top 25 -- one in the top 10.

Goes to show you didn’t know what you were talking about then or now. And y’all call yourself “Super Fans.

I have never seen you post anything but negativity towards ECU. Why dont you put it on the smack page or even better, go to UNC Ws page. I dont know why you hate ECU so much, but quite frankly nobody gives a rats little a$$ about you. Get a job and a life.

I don’t think I mention one bad thing about ECU in the post above. I think that I pointed out that the lunatic fringe ECU fans thought there needed to be a change in the philosophy of the football team. Well, you got what you wanted and now we’re the laughing stock of college football. We fired a coach because the lunatic fringe deemed going 9-3, 8-4, 6-6 and 4-8 (win over a top-25 team) wasn’t good enough so now we’ve went 3-20 over the past two years.

You guys are so into yourself you can’t even get out of your own way to quit running off good coaches and good fans with your unreasonable expectations. There’s a reason why we’ve only sold 12,000 season tickets. It’s because a few hundred of you lunatic fans need to be patted on the back, told how great you are for giving 200 bucks to the Pirate Club. Y’all also attempt to spin and bury every column that tells the truth about ECU, and try to censor other ECU fans that don’t believe Terry Holland is god and that ECU football is the only Football school in the State of North Carolina.

The only lunatic around here is you.. How bout doing everyone on the entire board a favor and get lost. No one ever responds to your posts except us (ECU fans) telling you to give it a rest. If you want to post the negative side every once and a while FINE. But one positive thing, JUST ONE, and we wouldnt be having this conversation.

Even your dumb signiture (even though its probably true) is negative. Yes, I didnt like the previous staff, but do you see me with a stupid picture about it..NO. Do you know why, because I am a true fan, one who sticks with the program through the good times and bad times. Why dont you put all your intensity rooting for another team like UNC W or Campbell or App state.

GIVE IT A REST. :snore:

This is for the outside observer to make their own judgment about how the lunatic fringe at ECU works. This is from today, Carolina Panthers OC Dan Henning made a comment that playing ECU is like playing a Pee-Wee football team. Here’s the quote and link:

Quote:"And I've told Evan, 'You're very good; you got by in college without having to be a great technician. Now every week, there's going to be a Kris Jenkins across from you. Not East Carolina, or seven or eight weeks where you can just take the guy and stuff him.

<a href='http://www.newbernsj.com/SiteProcessor.cfm?Template=/GlobalTemplates/Details.cfm&StoryID=22973&Section=Sports' target='_blank'>http://www.newbernsj.com/SiteProcessor.cfm...&Section=Sports</a>

Now this is the response from our very own Capital Pirate, a lawyer I might add, going into full spin and censorship mode. Even going so far as e-mailing the Panthers owner, Jerry Richardson, telling him to keep his people in check that talking about bad about ECU ain’t going to cut it with him. Here’s his quote and link:

From Capital Pirate

Quote:....and when I see it happening, I think it's important that it's brought into the light...this was an AP story, run nationwide...I, for one, don't want recruits or parents of recruits reading crap like this...

<a href='http://www.boneyardbanter.com/bbs/bin/33889.html' target='_blank'>http://www.boneyardbanter.com/bbs/bin/33889.html</a>

<a href='http://www.boneyardbanter.com/bbs/bin/33879.html' target='_blank'>http://www.boneyardbanter.com/bbs/bin/33879.html</a>

Make up your own mind.

I think it was the "dopes" reference that did the original post in.

By the way, I was one of the folks calling for Logan's head, immediately after ECU barely escaped Cincinnati with a win back in '01 -- only because the Bearcat placekicker missed a potential game-winning FG by about 2 feet. Then the Pirates choked leads against Louisville and Southern Miss, both at home.

And, if that wasn't enough, Logan found a way to let Marshall off the hook in the 2001 GMAC game. For whatever reason, he allowed his offense to throw passes in the 3rd quarter, despite leading 38-8. One of those dreaded sideline passes turned into a TD for Marshall, and the avalanche was on. Yup, that quirky passing game, DESPITE having the nation's most underrated RB in the backfield (Leonard Henry) and he didn't get nearly enough carries in that game. L-Train should have had 50 carries in that game.

I was as big a Logan fan as anyone, but 6-6 when we were preseason top 25 and led in basically every game only to lose it from behind is unacceptable. Hell we blew a 30 point lead to Marshall in the bowl game and then followed it up losing to Duke to snap a 23 game losing streak the next season and go 4-8. Unacceptable. One more year I could have delt with with Logan since I was on the fence, but there was reason to dismiss Logan and the people that wanted him gone were not lunatics.

*I agree with you though Thompson was a clown had I know that he was what we would get I would have said stick with Logan. I think our fourtunes would have been much better and in 2003 we would have been back bowling IMO instead of 1-11. That said I like where we are moving foward right now with Skip. I think in the end this will have all worked out the best for everyone, including Thompson who is the DC with Spurrier now.

Logan just lost it. And not firing Tim Rose was the last straw. It was time for a change.

I also don't think Thompson was given enough time. He should have been given another year at least. He's a defense-minded guy and ECU had no talent for him to work with on that side of the ball. I'm not sold on Holtz either. ECU should have hired an alum.

Not trying to start anything, but how many ECU games did you watch over the last 2 years? If you watched many, like I did, you'd know that the team was not prepared at all. Most of the time, it looked like JT grabbed 22 guys out of the stands, put 'em in uniforms and told 'em to go play football.

JT is a great guy, but he doesn't have 'it'. He may be a great DC, but he doesn't have the stuff to be a HC. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors, but I'm glad our marriage to him was short.

Quote:ECU had no talent for him to work with on that side of the ball.

Absolutely. Everybody take note. ECU has no skill on defense. Don't worry your pretty heads about us.

Quote:JT is a great guy

He was a phony and two faced on top of that. Just look at some of the last few articles that came out that said he didn’t really care about the players. “Loose Pants

Well this isn't my fight, but I do care about ECU, and hope they get their program going back on top again. I, even though a Marshall supporter, have alway backed ECU, living here in Carolina, and have always backed USM as well. I have personally felt that ECU, MU, and USM have literally gone through Hell to get to where we are today. I tip my hat to all three programs, and extend best wishes, except when we play one another. As far as Logan is concerned, I, personally believe he wasn't all that bad a coach, but I watched Skip at Columbia, and his Dad held him back. It is hard to figure how good, or bad he really is. I do know he wanted to have a more open offense, but Lou would not let him open it up.
p.s. The last coach deserved what he got. He was not what a program like ECU needed. When he was dismissed was a brighter day for all of ECU, whether they knew it, or not.

Skip Holtz is for real IMO. When JT was hired I really didn't feel confident in him and never did especially after the first game. When I first heard Skip was a candidate and in the running this past year, I did some research and I can honestly say I wanted that guy more than any of the names that were floated around like Ron Zook ect. Skip would have been the answer in 2003 even though I could have given Logan another year, I am just really excited about Holtz and our future. I didn't really feel this in 2003 or 2004 under JT. Even in 2002 I was feeling like Logan would only take us so far for every great win as great as they were there were head scratching losses and serious questions about his methods.

ECU has a few moronic fans who think they deserve the big-time with little achievement, and I'm an alumni for crying out loud. This program came close, but will never achieve consistent regional status anymore without BCS inclusion. ECU folks think there's a vast BCS conspiracy keeping the little man down. Instead of knocking the BCS, ABC, ESPN, etc. we should be trying for inclusion. It ain't going to change. There will always be a "big league" from now on. Even if all schools were included, we have never done anything in our history that would get us into the equivalent of a BCS bowl. 1992 is arguable.

It's all based on performance and marketability. It's market driven. If you are not one of the flagship institutions in the state with large alumni support, you better get it done on the field or get left out. I live in SEC/ACC country at a crossroads in FL, and would never pay to go back and see such a sorry product as we have in Greenville. I'd much rather watch FSU, UF or Miami. If you step outside of Greenville or the state of NC, there's no way the networks are going to shell money out to put teams on that aren't appealing. And we don't deserve this type of good fortune for what has really been mediocrity over the last 20 years.

It doesn't matter who's coaching or who the AD is, players don't want to come to a non-BCS school anymore. And I could care less if they folded up the program or went 1AA because the product has been horrendous. The school had a window of opportunity but the poor leadership at the institutional and AD level helped destroy this.

Suing the BCS, trashing ACC schools, whining, etc. is not going to get anything done. The only thing that will help is increased PC club memberships, increased season ticket sales, and winning. And it's probably too late for that. So I will continue to support the PC, buy my season tickets, and go to Miami, FSU, and UF games.

The guy above stated, "It doesn't matter who's coaching or who the AD is, players don't want to come to a non-BCS school anymore"

I think some people on this board will disagree.

You are no Pirate, alumni or not.

From the state of East Carolina, in the city of Greenville, with the powers invested in me, I hereby pronounce you BANNED from the Pirate nation. May God have mercy on your soul. 03-nutkick 05-mafia :ecu:
